The Hyundai Venue has been one of the most well-liked compact SUVs under sub-4 meter space and for good reason. Since its release in 2019, the Korean brand's most affordable SUV has been a favorite among Gen-Z consumers or those on a tight budget, providing an alluring substitute for pricey options. More than 3 lakh buyers were drawn to it by its unique style, strong powertrain options, ample passenger room, and well-organized feature list. However, with increased competition, the introduction of more feature-rich and connected vehicles like the Tata Nexon and Kia Sonet, as well as the absolute dominance of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza in the market, Hyundai was forced to act independently and step up its game.

As the company adheres to its worldwide design language—Sensuous Sportiness—the exterior of the Hyundai Venue undergoes a significant redesign in 2022. A chrome-studded grille with black borders, or what Hyundai calls the Parametric Grille, dominates the front area. This grille was previously seen on the new Hyundai Tucson and the larger Hyundai Palisade SUV. With projector headlamps positioned on re-profiled bumpers where the fog lamps have been replaced with bigger air inlets and silver fake plates, the turn indicators are new and organized in a three-piece horizontal graphic.
Despite a new alloy design that looks quite fashionable and stylish, the profile is basically unaltered. The recognizable flat roofline, silver roof rails, and body cladding on the doors are all carried over from the previous model, but the compact SUV now has a touch of chrome along the window line for a more modern look. The alloy 16-inch wheels receive a fresh design. If you thought the front section was daring, you'll be happy to know that Hyundai's designers were able to outdo themselves with the back, making it truly distinctive rather than just a half-baked effort. New graphics are added to the split tail lamp clusters on either side, which are connected by a bright stripe that spans the SUV's width. Now that the rear bumpers have been modified, reflectors and bulbs are arranged in an upright arrangement.
The 2022 Venue would stand out in a crowd of SUVs of different shapes and sizes, despite the fact that the design would polarise opinions on social media. There are six single-tone colour schemes available in addition to the new two-tone Fiery Red with Phantom Black roof, which gives its proportions more depth.

The 2022 Hyundai Venue facelift also has significant interior modifications that make the vehicle livelier than before. The instrument cluster has transitioned from the previous semi-digital unit to an all-digital one. The theme can be altered. Along with the ability to customise the theme based on the drive modes, the 1.0L Turbo DCT version also offers the option to do so separately. The 8-inch infotainment system from the prior model is retained, but a software update makes the user interface smoother.
Along with Alexa and Google Assistant, it now supports ten regional languages and two foreign tongues. Customers can now access more than 60 capabilities through Hyundai's BlueLink connected car technology, which also gains new functionality. On models with BlueLink, you get wireless connectivity, while on versions without BlueLink, you get wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. According to Hyundai, this is due to privacy concerns, and some models' wireless compatibility problems.
Wireless charging is available on higher-end variants. The motorised sunroof is still present, and the driver's seats may be changed in four different directions. The black and greige upholstery, which is basically a blend of grey and beige but to us appears to be off-white, is also brand-new. Hyundai has tailored the inside to suit the tastes of millennials in order to appeal to a younger audience. Since there were always issues with rear row seating on the Venue, travelling in the back rows is also lot more convenient now.
Now that they are aware of this, the corporation has changed the layout of the seats so that there is more room for the knees. The 2-step adjustable seats are a pleasant addition because they allow you to access the tiny levers located on either side of the backrests to recline to a more comfortable position for extended travels. For the back passengers, there are Type-C charging connectors that provide fast charging.
The Hyundai Venue maintains the same engine choices as the outgoing model, so there are three different gasoline engines available: a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated motor paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, a 1.0-liter turbo unit paired with a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT, and a 1.5-liter diesel engine tuned with a 6-speed manual transmission. Little has changed in terms of performance, ride & handling, or driving dynamics.
The 7-speed DCT unit, on the other hand, receives a generational upgrade. We didn't notice much differences other than the modified throttle response that enables taking off more quickly than before. Additionally, it is the only device with Eco, Normal, and Sport drive modes. Soon, each of us would test this version to determine its true core. The 2022 Hyundai Venue's iMT gearbox combines the control of a manual gearbox with the ease of an automatic, giving drivers the best of both worlds.
| Displacement | 1,197 cc | 998 cc | 1,493 cc ||--------------|-------------------|--------------------------|-------------------------|| Fuel Type | Petrol | Petrol | Diesel || Power | 81 bhp @6,000 rpm | 118 bhp @6,000rpm | 98 bhp @4,000 rpm || Torque | 113 Nm @4,000 rpm | 172 Nm @1,500-4,000 rpm | 240 Nm @1,500-2,750 rpm || Transmission | 5-Speed MT | 6-Speed iMT/ 7-Speed DCT | 6-Speed MT |
The seamless integration of the turbocharged engine and gearbox provides a smooth ride with little to worry about, and the immediate availability of torque only reinforces that impression. However, we believe that both transmissions with its diesel model should have been much more delightful; after all, it is a quiet, elegant, and very economical mill.
The Hyundai Venue's solid efficiency return keeps it in the spotlight. The naturally aspirated variant produces a respectable 17 kmpl with its manual transmission, while the smaller but more potent petrol powerplant returns more than 18 kmpl on both of its gearbox options. One of the most fuel-efficient vehicles in its sector, the larger diesel version is even more fuel-efficient, with a number of 22 kmpl.
| Model | Venue 1.2L NA | Venue 1.0L Turbo | Venue 1.5L Diesel ||---------------------------|---------------|------------------|-------------------|| Fuel Efficiency (Claimed) | 5MT- 17 kmpl | iMT- 18 kmpl | 6MT- 22.7 kmpl || | | DCT- 18.3 kmpl | |
Safety
Additionally, Hyundai has raised the bar for safety on the 2022 Venue. In addition to receiving a 4-star rating in crash tests from Global NCAP, Hyundai has outfitted the car adequately to protect occupants. You receive six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, brake assistance, hill hold assistance, and child ISOFIX anchors. Furthermore, we anticipate the business to test the car even though we doubt there will be any significant changes to its Global NCAP rating.
The Hyundai Venue is a crucial product for the company. More than any other SUV in its lineup, it accounts for more than 44% of all SUV sales and 22% of the firm's total domestic sales. With the 2022 model, the business wants to increase these numbers.
| Model | Petrol Prices | Diesel Prices ||-----------------------------|-------------------------------|--------------------------------|| 2022 Hyundai Venue | Rs. 7.53 lakh- Rs. 12.72 lakh | Rs. 9.99 lakh- Rs. 12.47 lakh || Kia Sonet | Rs. 7.15 lakh- Rs. 13.19 lakh | Rs. 8.89 lakh- Rs. 13.79 lakh || Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza | Rs. 7.84 lakh- Rs. 11.49 lakh | NA || Tata Nexon | Rs. 7.54 lakh- Rs. 12.59 lakh | Rs. 9.84 lakh- Rs. 13.89 lakh || Toyota Urban Cruiser | Rs. 9.02 lakh- Rs. 11.73 lakh | NA || Mahindra XUV300 | Rs. 8.41 lakh- Rs. 13.20 lakh | Rs. 9.60 lakh- Rs. 14.06 lakh || Honda WR-V | Rs. 8.99 lakh- Rs. 9.89 lakh | Rs. 11.15 lakh- Rs. 12.20 lakh |
Hyundai Venue undercuts the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza by Rs. 31,000 and the Tata Nexon by Rs. 1,000, but this may soon change thanks to the new-generation Maruti Suzuki Brezza, which is anticipated to add depth to the segment leader. Not to mention its Korean twin, the Kia Sonet, which is anticipated to receive its own set of enhancements probably early in the following year.
Overall, the Hyundai Venue is a stylish, well-built urban SUV that checks off a lot of boxes and provides excellent value. The costs are highly appealing, which also contributes to the 21,000 reservations Hyundai has received since starting reservations for the vehicle. Given that Tata Nexon, which is now Hyundai's greatest competition, offers as many trim levels and connected technologies as Hyundai does at the moment, its lack of sufficient options may be its only weakness. Yes, there are quite a few, such as the Dark Editions, Kaziranga Editions, and others. The 2022 Hyundai Venue stands out as a winner because to its tech benchmarks, contemporary styling and build quality, respectable ride and handling, comfort, and drivetrain options rather than its costs.
