Kia India introduces a Battery-as-a-Service finance program for the Carens Clavis EV, offering lower upfront costs, flexible finance options, and battery subscription at Rs 3.3 per km, with expanded EV infrastructure support.

Kia India has introduced a new Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) finance program for the Carens Clavis EV. This initiative aims to lower the upfront cost of electric vehicle ownership and make EVs more accessible to buyers in India. The program separates the battery from the vehicle chassis, allowing customers to finance each component independently.

Under the BaaS structure, buyers pay for the vehicle body through a standard loan, while the battery is covered by a subscription-based usage plan. Kia has partnered with major financial institutions, including ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Bajaj Finserv, to offer this scheme.
The Kia Carens Clavis EV Standard Pack is available with a down payment starting at Rs 51,520. The ex-showroom price for this version is Rs 17.99 lakh, with the chassis priced at Rs 12.84 lakh under the BaaS model. The monthly EMI begins at Rs 26,650.
For the Extended Range version, the ex-showroom price is Rs 21.99 lakh, and the chassis price under the scheme is Rs 15.94 lakh. The down payment starts at Rs 60,452, and the EMI begins at Rs 33,099. The battery subscription is priced at Rs 3.3 per km for both variants.
Flexible Tenure and Infrastructure Support
Kia offers flexible finance tenures of up to 60 months for the vehicle body and up to 96 months for the battery. This structure is designed to reduce the financial burden and improve affordability, especially for first-time EV buyers.
Kia reports that the Carens Clavis EV has received a positive response in India for its practicality, design, and features. With the BaaS program, Kia aims to further expand its EV customer base by making ownership more practical and financially flexible.
Sunhack Park, Chief Sales Officer at Kia India, stated that the initiative is intended to create a more customer-friendly EV ecosystem by reducing acquisition costs and increasing financial flexibility.
Ongoing EV Infrastructure Initiatives
Kia continues to strengthen its EV infrastructure in India. The company’s K-Charge platform, integrated into the MyKia app, allows users to plan EV routes, track charger availability, and make digital payments. More than 100 Kia dealerships in India are now equipped with DC fast chargers, and over 267 workshops are EV-ready. These efforts aim to ensure a smoother ownership experience for EV customers across the country.
