Kia India will launch the Syros EV in August 2026, according to sources. This new model will be Kia's smallest and most affordable electric vehicle in India. The Syros EV will compete directly with the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV.
Key Highlights
- Kia Syros EV to launch in India in August 2026
- Expected price range is Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh ex-showroom
- Will compete with Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV
Key Features and Design
The Syros EV is an ICE-to-EV conversion, similar to its main rivals. It will feature EV-specific styling and updated features. Test mules have been seen on Indian roads, heavily camouflaged but showing little change from the internal combustion engine (ICE) version. The model is expected to retain its boxy silhouette and tallboy stance.
Spy images reveal a charging flap on the passenger side front fender. The Syros EV could also get unique front and rear bumpers and possibly new alloy wheels. However, the overall design will likely remain close to the ICE version, as seen with other Kia models like the Carens Clavis and its EV counterpart.
Interior and Technology
The dashboard design is expected to stay mostly unchanged. The feature list will likely mirror the ICE variant, with additions such as vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) capabilities. It is unclear if the Syros EV will offer advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), as this feature was removed from the ICE Syros in its 2026 update. The EV may also include specific displays and new trim or upholstery options.
Platform, Battery, and Pricing
The Syros EV will use Kia's K1 platform, which also supports the ICE-powered Syros. Internationally, the K1 platform underpins the Inster EV, which offers 42kWh and 49kWh battery packs. The India-spec Syros EV is expected to feature battery packs of similar capacity. The vehicle will have a front-wheel drive configuration.
The Syros EV was initially scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2026 but has been advanced by about six months. It will launch within one and a half years of the ICE version's debut. Expected pricing ranges from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). The Syros EV will compete with the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV in the Indian market.
