As the Thar prepares to enter a new era, both fans and competitors are bracing for the sweeping changes that Mahindra has engineered to keep this trailblazer ahead in the market. 5 years since the second generation launched, Thar is ready to recast its iconic rugged jeep for an upcoming facelift. Here’s everything you need to know about the Thar Facelift.

Bold New Design Language

The upcoming Mahindra Thar, previously leaked in spy shots, revealed that the car will be infused with the facelifted Thar with a few elements borrowed from the top trim of the Thar Roxx. As the spy shot was heavily camouflaged, we could see certain design tweaks on the front fascia. The facelifted Thar will get the same front vertical grill as that of the Thar Roxx and carries the configuration of the retro-round LED headlamps from the 5-door version.

Redesigned bumpers, fresh alloy wheel designs, and subtle fender enhancements ensure the classic silhouette remains instantly recognizable, but with some modernity. The SUV will receive the old off-road stance with an all-new color scheme, which will be revealed when the car officially debuts.

Mahindra Thar Facelift: High-Tech, Premium Cabin

While getting inside the car, you may feel spacious and comfortable. Inside the cabin, the car gives a premium fit and finish. Key highlights include a new 10.25-inch infotainment system integrated by Mahindra’s AdrenoX suite. Moreover, the steering wheel is the same as its predecessors. However, buyers can expect a fully digital instrument cluster and a flat-bottom steering wheel inspired by the Scorpio N and XUV700 at an additional cost.

For safety, the brand might offer 6 airbags as standard in all upcoming Thar trim levels. The expected iteration might also come with hill assist control, ESP, ABS, and roll cage signals across all variants. We can also expect an ADAS feature on the top-of-the-line variant.

What’s under the hood?

The upcoming Mahindra Thar facelift is likely to have no mechanical change under the hood. The car will be powered by the same engine lineup—a 2.0L inline-turbo petrol, a 1.5L diesel, and a 2.2L diesel. Every engine will be available with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or the 6-speed AMT as an additional option for customers.

The petrol engine is capable of producing 152 HP of power, while the 1.5L diesel engine generates 117 HP and 300 Nm of peak torque. The second largest engine under the hood, 2.2L, will rev out about 130 HP and 300 Nm of torque. The car will be available in both rear-wheel and four-wheel drive setups for true adventure capability.

Expected Pricing

The expected pricing for the upcoming Thar facelift is set to be about Rs 12.00 Lakh (ex-showroom) in India. However, the brand has not disclosed any further details before its official debut. The Facelift Thar will be giving tough competition to its rivals, such as the Suzuki Jimny and the Force Gurkha.

Conclusion

The upcoming Mahindra Thar facelift will deliver a blend of Mahindra’s SUV tradition and innovation. Making it the perfect vehicle for adventure enthusiasts and having a tremendous off-roading presence. With its refreshed style, tech upgrades, and proven capability, this SUV is a compelling buy for those who desire rugged reliability with a premium touch.
