Maruti Suzuki India is revving up the Indian automotive landscape through electrification. The brand is all set to begin production of its highly anticipated e-Vitara SUV on August 26, 2025. The pre-production will take place at its Hansalpur plant in Gujarat. The upcoming e-Vitara is already on sale in the United Kingdom, and we expect to see the launch in the Indian market on September 3, 2025.
This strategic move signals Maruti’s commitment to sustainable mobility and cements its ambition to be at the forefront of India’s EV revolution. The car, once launched, will face fierce competition from its rivals, such as the Hyundai Creta EV, Mahindra BE 6, and MG ZS EV. Let's take a look at what Maruti might be cooking up under the hood.
Built on an all-new, scalable platform, the e-Viatara is engineered for both domestic and export markets. The car offers three-point matrix LED DRLs that are wrapped under the headlights. Moreover, the car looks appealing at first sight, thanks to its piano black accents located at the center of the headlight. While looking from the side, we see a surge of black cladding arched with 18-inch aerodynamically enhanced alloy wheels.

Considering its UK-based production model, the car offers two battery configurations: 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery packs. The 49 kWh battery pack might come as a standard for the Indian market, generating 142 HP of power and 193 Nm of torque. This battery setup will allow the vehicle to achieve a WLTP range of about 344 km on a single charge, with FWD as an option.
The 61 kWh battery pack might be available as the higher trim level. This power configuration might produce 171 HP along with 193 Nm of peak torque. As the higher trim level, the brand will allow two different drivetrains under the hood to choose from. The front-wheel drive will travel approximately 426 km on a single charge. Customers who opt for all-wheel drive will be able to travel approximately 395 kilometers on a single charge. Both batteries drive a front-axle-mounted electric motor, giving drivers brisk acceleration and all-electric reliability.

The e-Vitara stands out with its robust yet minimalist styling inside the cabin. While getting behind the wheel, you might witness a dashboard configuration. This setup is configured with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Even with its reliability and efficiency, it offers standalone features as follows:
Safety is a priority as well, with seven airbags, ADAS features, ISOFIX mounts, and a comprehensive suite of sensors and stability controls.
Production starts August 26, 2025. Maruti Suzuki plans to officially launch the e-Vitara on September 3, 2025, timing the rollout to maximize market buzz and meet surging consumer demand for EVs before the festive season prevails.
The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara marks a significant milestone in the brand’s journey towards electrification. Early reviews suggest the e-Vitara will meet, and possibly exceed, the expectations of its buyers—delivering a compelling mix of range, comfort, and leading-edge Japanese technology. Consumers can look forward to a new standard in Indian electric SUVs when the e-Vitara hits the road this September.
