Mercedes-Benz has expanded its luxury SUV lineup in India with the introduction of the GLE and GLS Night Editions, limited-run models that bring a darker visual theme and curated cabin upgrades to the brand’s best-selling SUVs. The company says these special editions are part of a global limited series, offered in restricted volumes and exclusive configurations not found on standard variants.

India’s importance to the GLE and GLS story is hard to miss, with Mercedes-Benz describing the country as one of its top global markets for both SUVs. That positioning underlines how strongly the two nameplates have resonated with Indian buyers, and it gives the Night Editions extra relevance as collectible, premium-focused offerings tailored for customers who want something rarer.

Limited-Series Positioning

The Night Editions are designed to stand apart through a more dramatic appearance and a more bespoke cabin experience. According to Mercedes-Benz, they are not repackaged standard variants, but exclusive editions created for buyers who value individuality as much as luxury.

The exterior treatment is centered on a blacked-out theme, with special finishes that add to the SUVs’ road presence. The package is clearly aimed at customers who want the GLE and GLS to look more distinctive without moving away from the familiar Mercedes-Benz luxury SUV formula.

Mercedes-Benz has offered the Night Editions in Obsidian Black and the exclusive Alpine Grey shade, with the latter not available on regular versions. Inside, both SUVs receive black Nappa leather upholstery and anthracite open-pore oak wood trim, giving the cabin a more tailored and premium feel.

The feature list also includes a head-up display as standard on both models, while the GLE Night Edition gains Airmatic air suspension as part of its package. Together, these additions help the special editions feel more complete rather than merely cosmetic.

Powertrain and Prices

The Mercedes-Benz GLE and Mercedes-Benz GLS Night Editions continue with the familiar powertrain options from their respective ranges, paired with Mercedes-Benz’s 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and Airmatic suspension. The GLE Night Edition is offered as the 300d and 450, while the GLS Night Edition comes in 450 and 450d forms.

Mercedes-Benz has priced the GLE 300d Night Edition at Rs 1.05 crore, the GLE 450 Night Edition at Rs 1.14 crore, the GLS 450 Night Edition at Rs 1.41 crore, and the GLS 450d Night Edition at Rs 1.43 crore, all ex-showroom. Those numbers place the Night Editions firmly in the upper end of the luxury SUV market, where rarity and specification often matter as much as outright performance.

Market Relevance

The launch also reinforces Mercedes-Benz India’s continued focus on its top-end SUV portfolio, a segment that has consistently played an important role in the brand’s local success. By bringing a globally limited series to India, the company is leaning into the market’s appetite for premium, high-spec and low-volume products.

For buyers, that means the GLE and GLS Night Editions offer more than a styling update. They add exclusivity, a stronger visual identity, and a sense of occasion, which is exactly what special editions are meant to do in the luxury space.
