Sales Performance Overview
While MG Motor India saw positive year-on-year growth, its month-on-month sales declined. In March 2026, the company sold 6,528 units. This means April 2026 sales dropped by 7.81 percent month-on-month, with a volume decrease of 510 units. The ongoing West Asia Crisis has affected global supply chains and consumer demand, impacting overall sales performance.
MG Motor India stated that it maintained steady momentum across both its internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) portfolios. The ICE lineup includes the Hector SUV, Astor SUV, and Gloster SUV. The Gloster will soon be replaced by the upcoming Majestor SUV. The EV portfolio features the Comet EV, ZS EV, and the Add, which is currently the country's best-selling electric car.
Upcoming Launches and Future Plans
MG Motor India unveiled the Majestor SUV at the Bharat Mobility Expo in January 2025. The Majestor is positioned as a D+ segment SUV, aiming to compete with the Toyota Fortuner. Its launch was initially scheduled for April 20 and then April 27, but is now confirmed for May 2026, with the exact date yet to be disclosed. Media drives for the Majestor have recently started.
The company also plans to introduce new models in the Indian market. These include the IM6, a premium electric SUV, and a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) based on the Starlight 580 platform. These upcoming vehicles are part of MG Motor India's strategy to expand its presence in both the ICE and EV segments.
