Nissan is preparing to make its return in India’s most competitive mid-size SUV segment, with the introduction of its upcoming Nissan Tekton. The midsize SUV is going to make its debut later this month on February 4, this model could help the brand to reestablish its presence in the Indian auto market, slated to go on sale around mid-2026. Nissan Tekton: Platform
The Tekton is based on Nissan's CMF-B platform, shared with next-generation Renault Duster. While platform sharing may sound unexciting on paper, this allows automakers to focus on other aspects of the car which includes design, cabin experience, driving feel and pricing. In a market where value perception is key, this approach could work in Nissan’s favour.
Bold design inspired by global SUVs

Early teasers suggest that Nissan is borrowing key styling cues from its global design language. The Tekton seems to draw its visual inspiration from the larger Nissan Patrol, especially in its lighting and stance. Expect a flat, muscular bonnet, strong wheel arches and a wide, upright profile that gives it a confident road presence.
One of the key highlight elements is the connected LED lighting at both ends, complemented with a distinctive C-shaped light signature. The styling makes Tekton instantly familiar with Nissan’s larger international models, which provide it a more premium and modern appearance. Other than that, details like silver roof rails, multi-spoke alloy wheels and neatly integrated door handles further enhance its SUV character.
Interior
While Nissan has only offered brief glimpses of the cabin, the Tekton’s interior appears to aim for a balance between visual appeal and everyday usability. A three-tone dashboard with glossy black surfaces and a bronze accent strip adds a touch of flair without going overboard. The layout suggests a clean, contemporary design rather than something overly experimental. Feature expectations are high in this category, and the Tekton is unlikely to disappoint. A large touchscreen, wireless phone charging, automatic climate control and a sunroof are all expected to be part of the package, at least on higher variants.
Powertrain & Electric Option

There are no official engine details from the brand, yet the Tekton is expected to feature a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.0-litre turbo unit with smaller variants mated with Manual and automatic transmissions. Alongside Nissan is also keeping the door open for electric options for Tekton in the future, including a hybrid, which could become important as regulations tighten, and fuel efficiency gains more attention.
Pricing
Pricing is going to be the deciding factor for Tekton in the Indian market. Sightings suggest that it is likely to be introduced at a price point between Rs 10-12 lakh, going up to about Rs 18-20 lakh (ex-showroom) for top trims. If Nissan applies the same aggressive pricing mindset it used with the Magnite, the Tekton could emerge as a strong value-driven alternative in a crowded segment.

Verdict
The Nissan Tekton feels like a long-overdue move in the right direction for the brand in India. With familiar underpinnings, bold styling and a feature-rich cabin, it ticks the right boxes on paper. However, its success will hinge squarely on pricing and execution. If Nissan gets both right, the Tekton could finally give the brand a meaningful foothold in the midsize SUV segment.
