Range Rover Sport SV price cut by Rs 70 lakh in India after India–UK FTA
With the India–UK FTA kicking in, Jaguar Land Rover is set to reduce the Range Rover Sport SV’s ex-showroom price in India by nearly Rs 70 lakh.

Jaguar Land Rover India is preparing to reduce the price of the Range Rover Sport SV by Rs 70 lakh. This move follows the upcoming implementation of the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which will lower import duties on select UK-built vehicles. JLR will be the first luxury carmaker in India to pass on these tariff benefits to customers.
Key Highlights
- Jaguar Land Rover India to cut Range Rover Sport SV price by Rs 70 lakh
- Price reduction follows India-UK FTA lowering duties on UK-built luxury vehicles
- Only UK-built SV variants will see price changes while locally assembled models remain unaffected
- Other British luxury brands also eligible for phased duty reduction under new agreement
Range Rover Sport SV Price Cut Details

The Range Rover Sport SV currently retails at Rs 2.75 crore (ex-showroom). The expected Rs 70 lakh reduction represents a 25 percent price drop for this top-spec variant. The price revision will apply only to the UK-built, fully imported SV range, which still attracts the full 110 percent import duty. The new FTA will cut this duty to 30 percent in its first year.
For the flagship Range Rover SV variants, a similar percentage cut could mean a price drop of over Rs 1 crore. The price change is expected to be announced this week, once the FTA comes into effect. This marks the second major price revision for JLR's top-end models in less than a year. In September 2025, JLR reduced prices by up to Rs 30.4 lakh across the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport lineups after GST 2.0 reforms.
FTA Impact and Market Context
The India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), signed on July 24, 2025, is set to take effect in April. Under CETA, import duties on large-engined UK-origin completely built-up (CBU) vehicles will fall from 110 percent to 30 percent in the first year. By Year 5, duties will drop further to 10 percent, with an annual quota starting at 20,000 vehicles.
JLR India's spokesperson stated that the company is assessing the FTA's impact on its SV models and will announce revised prices closer to implementation. The benefit from lower duties is partly offset by currency changes. Since the CETA signing, the pound has strengthened from Rs 116.72 to Rs 124.74, a 6.9 percent rupee depreciation, which reduces some of the duty savings.
Local Assembly and Other Models
Most of JLR India's volume comes from locally assembled models. The Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Velar, and Discovery Sport are assembled from CKD kits in Pune. The Evoque will soon be produced at Tata Motors' new Panapakkam plant near Chennai, which started operations in February 2026. These locally assembled models already benefit from lower duties and will not see FTA-linked price changes.
The SV variants, hand-built in Solihull, UK, are the main beneficiaries of the new duty structure. The Defender range, though fully imported, is made in Slovakia and not eligible for the UK FTA benefits, so its prices will remain unchanged.
Broader Industry Implications
Other UK-based luxury brands like Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin, and McLaren will also qualify for the phased duty reduction. However, none have announced pricing changes yet. The 20,000-unit quota for Year 1 will cover all British luxury brands, making allocation as important as pricing for these manufacturers.

Conclusion
The substantial Rs 70 lakh drop on the Range Rover Sport SV following the India–UK FTA is more than a headline-grabbing discount; it effectively reshapes the value equation in India’s high-end SUV space. By passing on duty benefits to customers, Jaguar Land Rover not only boosts the Sport SV’s appeal but also sets a strong precedent for future luxury imports.
