Tata Motors Begins Production at New Tamil Nadu Plant, Rolls Out Locally Assembled Range Rover Evoque
Tata Motors fires up its Tamil Nadu plant, rolling out the stylish Range Rover Evoque made in India. A game-changer for luxury SUVs and local manufacturing.

Tata Motors has started to assemble its cars under the portfolio at its newly established production unit facility in Panapakkam, Tamil Nadu. The Range Rover Evoque was the first vehicle to roll out from this brand-new facility, which was graced by the presence of M. Stalin, Honorable CM of Tamil Nadu, and Mr. N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons* Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles.
With the rollout of the first-ever domestically assembled Range Rover Evoque, Tata Motors fulfilled the commitment to strengthening the “Make in India” initiative through local production of premium models under the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) brand. As the local assembly unit is started, this might reduce the cost of pricing the vehicles while maintaining the high standards of quality expected from the brand.
Expanding JLR’s Local Assembly Network
This new facility is built with an investment of Rs 9,000 crore and is located in Panapakkam in Ranipet, Tamil Nadu. This new facility will be utilized by Tata Motors to not only produce ICE-powered cars but also produce the next generations of EVs from the Tata Motors and JLR portfolios.
Following the Pune plant’s success in assembling models such as the Range Rover Velar, Discovery Sport, and Jaguar F-Pace. Located near Chennai, this new facility is strategically positioned close to major ports and component suppliers, enabling smoother logistics and faster market responsiveness.
Local Assembly of Range Rover Evoque

The first car to roll out from the new production unit is the Range Rover Evoque. The locally assembled Evoque retains its signature design, sophisticated interiors, and an array of cutting-edge features that define the Range Rover experience worldwide.

This move is expected to attract a wider set of buyers in the fast-evolving luxury vehicle market. which is witnessing increasing demand from younger, aspirational consumers across major Indian cities.
