Toyota Innova Hycross Surpasses Crysta in Q1 FY 2026
In Q1 FY 2026, Toyota's Innova Hycross surged ahead of the Innova Crysta, outselling it by two-thirds. This marks a clear shift toward hybrid technology in India’s MPV market.

The Toyota Innova Hycross has surpassed in terms of sales figures. The Hycross surpassed the long-established Innova Crysta by two-thirds of a margin in the first quarter of FY 2026. The car was launched with a strong testament to the Japanese brand’s sales in India from April to June 2025. According to the reports, the Toyota Hycross shows dominance with 61% shares of total Innova sales.
This shows that the top contributor in the passenger vehicle segment has statistically dropped in demand from the hybrid Hycross. The Crysta sold around 9,900 units, accounting for just 39% of the segment sales. However, Toyota India has sold over 80,432 hatchbacks, MPVs, and SUVs with an average increase of 18% of the total share year-on-year.
Hycross outpaced with 5,583 units of Crysta in Q1 FY 2026
Fiscal Year | Hycross Units | Crysta Units | Total Units |
FY 2023 | 11,351 | 44.223 | 55,574 |
FY 2024 | 52,997 | 45,183 | 98,180 |
FY 2025 | 62,794 | 44,410 | 107,204 |
FY 2026 | 15,483 | 9,900 | 25,383 |
Total | 142,625 | 143,716 | 286,341 |
Over the past 15 months, Toyota Hycross changed the whole statistics of the MPV market. The vehicle has sold around 11,351 units in the last five months. This sudden shift outpaced the Innova Crysta. As the statistics chart is clear, the Hycross has always had an upper hand in FY 2024, with a total of 55,997 units sold in India. Whereas Crysta's first full fiscal sales were around 45,183.
In FY 2025, Hycross outsells Innova by 18,384 units, which accounts for 59 percent of the total sales of Innova. In FY 2026, the Hycross MPV outpaced the Crysta with 5,583 units in the domestic market. This results in a 61 percent jump in market share for MPVs in India.
Toyota ranks second in the MPV market share
The Toyota Innova Crysta and Hycross hold 61% of the MPV market share. The demand for the Hycross has been particularly strong since its debut in 2022. The main reason for such tremendous sales figures is the strong, agile commitment to Toyota’s hybrid technology.
However, the Crysta is still available in a diesel powertrain, and the strict policy norms on diesel cars by the government have affected the sales growth of the Innova Crysta. Considering the recent sales report of June 2025, Hycross sold around 142,625 units, giving the current strong momentum that the vehicle will achieve 150,000 domestic sales by the end of August 2025.
Conclusion
This Toyota Hycross is a key driver of Toyota’s hybrid success. The car has also secured a 5-star BNCAP safety rating, which would boost its sales figures. The Hycross offers everything that buyers prefer in a car. The vehicle is perfect for large families' needs, and with a new level of luxury experience behind the wheel. The sales will surge in the upcoming months as the car's performance, affordability, and comfort are the best in its segment.
