Toyota Innova Hycross Hybrid: Toyota is one of those automakers in India who have revolutionized the hybrid segment by democratizing it. Due to this, the brand is now facing long waiting period issues for the Innova Hycross hybrid which has even been extended to one year in some cases. However, now the Japanese automaker has planned to reduce the waiting period for the flagship MPV by improving the overall internal processes. The company has decided to cut down the waiting period for the Innova Hycross Hybrid to less than six months by the end of 2024.
Innova Hycross Hybrid Sales
Recently in an interview with Autocar India, Sabari Manohar, group head for customer services at Toyota India, stated that over 50 per cent of sales of Innovo Hycross have been registered for Toyota India.
“After we launched the vehicle, we did some market study. What they like, of course, is the fuel efficiency. Secondly, the cabin is so silent. Customers are able to get the experiences of an EV, which is new for everyone. Then they understand that this is the best of both worlds,” said Manohar, reasoning the uptake of the hybrid variants. “Initially, we had to do a lot of homework in terms of communicating what a hybrid is. But now, customers are able to embrace this fully.”
How Things Will Happen Now?
Toyota has been facing delivery and increased waiting period issues for so long. This is due to the high demand and Toyota’s less efficient internal processes. This led the automaker to temporarily stop the bookings for the top-end hybrid trims in April 2024. Some of the major reasons for this issue are the semiconductor shortage and a lower production capacity.
However, Toyota has recently announced that it will increase its production capacity by up to 32 per cent. The increased capacity is specifically aimed at producing the hybrid variants. Besides this, the automaker will also improvise its supply chain for increased production.

Toyota's Innova Hycross Hybrid has seen overwhelming demand in India, resulting in extended waiting periods, prompting Toyota to halt bookings temporarily. However, the automaker aims to tackle this issue by enhancing internal processes, increasing production capacity by 32%, and optimizing the supply chain. With these measures, Toyota aims to reduce the waiting period to less than six months by the end of 2024, catering to the growing preference for hybrid vehicles among Indian consumers.
