Toyota has decided to launch the 12th generation of Corolla Altis in India during 2020, making it one of the most preferred premium sedan in the nation. Currently, the car is available in more than 150 countries and has already registered sales of more than 47 million units across the globe. The facelifted Corolla Altis will confirm to BS-VI emission norm and will look far more sleek and aggressive than the outgoing version. It will remain based on the TNGA platform and may arrive as a hybrid car in the country.
The currently available Corolla Altis was revamped in 2017 and came with Bi-beam LED headlamps, LED daytime running lights, and circular fog lamps on both sides of the wide grille. In the interiors, you get a revised upholstery, round HVAC vents, and a 4.2-inch MID display with updated software. There is a Touch 2 system for navigation as standard in all variants. Corolla Altis gets propelled by a 1798cc petrol engine churning out an impressive 138 bhp@ 6400 rpm, and a peak torque of 173 Nm@ 4000 rpm. There is also a 1364cc diesel version generating 87 bhp@ 3800 rpm, and 205 Nm@ 1800-2800 rpm peak torque. In both cases, a 6-speed manual gearbox performs the transmission duties. The sedan is an excellent highway cruiser, and you can drive it at 90-100 kmph without the engine making any grunt. Overall, Corolla Altis is a reliable premium sedan with outstanding resale value.
