While it is still selling in good numbers, Maruti Suzuki is working on the next generation of this vehicle. The All new Maruti Vitara Brezza will be based on a completely new platform and will carry better equipment on offer too.
The demand of a complete makeover arised due to the rise in the competition and their offerings. The closest and popular rivals from South Korea are better equipped and offer more value for money. Despite being sold in good numbers, Maruti Vitara Brezza struggles to score better in sales numbers over these vehicles.
Vitara Brezza was introduced with a Fiat sourced 1.3-litre diesel engine which gained huge popularity and people waited for months to get their car. Since then, its popularity hasn’t decreased and it is still ranking among Top 3 cars in its segment with respect to sales numbers.

At the arrival of BS6 emission norms, the diesel mill was discontinued and Maruti planted their very own 1.5-litre K-series petrol engine and churns out 1.5PS of power and 140Nm of torque. with a 5 speed manual and a 4-speed torque converter transmissions. This automatic unit is an outdated one and the competition has much better automatics including the 7-speed DCT in Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue.
The All new car will replace the 4-speed torque converter with a 6-speed unit to live up to the expectations of Maruti’s loyal buyers. It will also make this compact SUV more fun to drive and better for highway cruising.
While the car is currently crowned with 4-star safety rating from Global NCAP, it gets only dual Airbags for front passengers. With the new generation, it will get 6 airbags in the top end variant and hence will be safer than before.
Another big update to the car would be a sunroof. This feature has become quite common in this segment and even one segment below too. To offer better or even at par with the current competition, Maruti will be planting a Sunroof unit while ensuring better safety.
Though Vitara Brezza is churning big for Maruti, it is helping Toyota in sales as well. The badge engineered version of this car i.e. Toyota Urban Cruiser. With the new generation of donor car, we are expecting Toyota’s version to also get all these updates too sooner or later.
