BMW 2 Series Coupe revealed ahead of its debut

BMW 2 Series Coupe will make its debut at the Goodwill Festival of Speed

● The new BMW 2 Series Coupe design is similar to the 3 Series and Z4● While being slightly larger than the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, it comes with two petrol and one hybrid diesel engine option● The BMW 2 Series Coupe M240i version will feature BMW’s X-Drive AWD system.

New BMW 2 Series Coupe – A design overhaul

While retaining the primary design features of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, the new BMW 2 Series Coupe’s design will be more in tune with the newer models, the 3 Series and Z4.

This model features the conventional horizontal kidney-shaped chrome grilles with engine-cooling flaps positioned strategically behind it. Other standard features include flared wheel arches, a low-front apron, and swollen rear haunches.The top-end version M240i features a prominent squared-off sports exhaust colour-coded rear spoiler, bespoke front splitter, and unique 19-inches M-Sport alloy wheels.

The regular M-Sport variant is characterized by 18-inches alloy wheels, a variable sports steering system, adaptive LED headlights, and other exclusive features.

The interiors comprise a 4-seat cabin with low-mounted, optionally heated, and electrically adjustable front sports seats. The driver-focused dashboard and a sports-styled multifunction steering wheel add to the convenience and luxury factor.

New BMW 2 Series Coupe – Dimension changes

While being longer and wider than the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe at 4537mm length and 1838mm width, the new design is shorter by 28mm with a height of 1390mm. In addition, it comes with an extended wheelbase by 51mm to display more agility and dynamism.

New BMW 2 Series Coupe – Engine and Performance

Here is the engine configuration of the different variants.

All these variants will feature an 8-speed automatic transmission system with Sprint Mode and Launch Control facilities. In addition, the M2401 variant features an additional electronic rear differential because of its higher handling focus and X-Drive AWD system.

Two more variants, the 244hp 230i and the range-topper M2 Coupe are due for a launch in 2022. The M2 Couple is more potent than the M240i as it can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 4.3 seconds.

BMW 2 Series – What about an India release?

BMW has not yet announced plans to release the new series in India. However, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe will continue along with the M2 Competition Coupe.
