Hyundai's Bayon-based compact SUV, codenamed Bc4i, was recently seen testing in India. This new model will fit between the Exter and the Venue in Hyundai’s lineup. The SUV is expected to launch in India during the second quarter of FY2027, which falls between July and September 2026.
Key Highlights
- Hyundai Bayon-based compact SUV spied testing in India before 2026 launch
- Expected to feature new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol hybrid engine and advanced driver assistance systems
- Likely to be priced between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 15.65 lakh ex-showroom
- Will compete with Maruti Fronx, Toyota Taisor, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite
Exterior Design and Features

The latest spy images reveal several exterior details of the upcoming Hyundai Bayon SUV. The front features a split-style headlight design, similar to the current Venue. Slim LED daytime running lamps sit at the top. Previous spy shots from Korea showed black cladding on the lower bumper, front parking sensors, and a radar sensor for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
The side profile shows a windowline that resembles the Bayon sold in Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. The alloy wheels appear to have a piston-shaped design, though their exact size remains unknown. For comparison, the international Bayon uses 16-inch rims.
At the rear, the SUV continues the split-style lighting theme. The lower section houses the brake lights, while the upper part likely contains LED turn indicators and reversing lights. Additional visible features include silver roof rails, a reverse parking camera, and parking sensors. It is unclear if Hyundai will offer a 360-degree camera, a feature missing on the Venue but available on rivals like the Kia Syros and Kia Sonet.
Interior and Expected Equipment

The interior of the Bayon-based SUV has not been seen yet. However, the N-Line version’s cabin was recently spied in Korea. It features all-black seats, adjustable headrests, and red piping. The standard model is expected to have a similar layout but without the red accents. The full feature list is still under wraps, but Hyundai is likely to equip the SUV with a competitive set of features, as seen in its other models.
Powertrain and Pricing
Hyundai is expected to introduce a new 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine with this SUV. This engine should deliver more power and torque than the current 1.0-liter turbo-petrol, while being more efficient than the 1.5-liter turbo-petrol unit. The new engine will also be hybridized, supporting Hyundai’s plan to launch eight hybrid models by 2030, including the next-generation Hyundai Creta. The 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine, currently used in the i20 N Line and Venue N-Line, may be offered in lower trims of the new SUV.
Pricing for the Bayon-based compact SUV is expected to be similar to the Venue, which ranges from Rs 8 lakh to Rs 15.65 lakh (ex-showroom). The new model will compete with the Maruti Fronx, Toyota Taisor, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite in the Indian market.

CarBike 360 Says
With testing already underway, Hyundai’s Bayon-based compact SUV signals the brand’s intent to further strengthen its foothold in India’s highly competitive sub-4m segment. Expected to blend global design cues with market-specific updates, the new model could offer a strong mix of style, features, and efficiency. More details are likely to emerge as the launch timeline approaches in 2026.
