Hyundai is developing a new electric SUV for the Indian market, positioned below the Creta Electric. The vehicle will be manufactured in India for both domestic sales and global exports. Testing has already begun, with camouflaged prototypes spotted in India and South Korea.
Key Highlights
- Hyundai developing new sub-4m electric SUV for India and global export
- Expected 40 kWh battery with 400 to 500 km range on full charge
- Features may include dual 12.3-inch screens and Level 2 ADAS
- Will compete with Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV
Design and Exterior Features

Based on recent spy shots, rendering artist Pratyush Rout has created an image of the upcoming Hyundai electric SUV. The vehicle features a tall-boy design with a strong, boxy silhouette. Pixel-design LED DRLs and a Quad Dot Hyundai logo in pixel style are visible in the renders, along with a conventional Hyundai logo above them.
The headlights are set low and have a quadrilateral shape with multi-beam LED chambers. Flush door handles and geometrically patterned alloy wheels add to the modern look. Functional roof rails, protruding wheel arches, chunky claddings, and door claddings are also present. The rear includes a connecting plaque for tail lights, though the actual LED signature does not connect. A distinctive rear spoiler integrates the high-mount stop light.
Interior and Technical Specifications
The boxy silhouette is expected to provide a spacious interior with ample shoulder room for all passengers. Key interior features may include dual 12.3-inch screens in a curved housing, a steering wheel with a gear selector on the column, premium materials, and a high-quality audio system. Advanced safety and convenience features such as Level-2 ADAS, 360-degree cameras, all-four disc brakes, adjustable regenerative braking, and powered and ventilated front seats are anticipated.
The battery size is expected to be around 40 kWh, offering a range of 400 km to 500 km on a full charge. The SUV will likely use a single electric motor driving the front wheels, with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of under 10 seconds. Features like Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging may also be included.
Market Position and Launch Timeline
Upon launch, this Hyundai electric SUV will compete with models such as the Tata Nexon EV, Tata Punch EV, and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV in the sub-4m segment. The launch is expected either later this year or by 2027.

CarBike 360 Says
Hyundai’s upcoming sub-4m electric SUV looks set to strengthen the brand’s EV push in India with a practical size, localized manufacturing, and an affordable price point. If the final product stays close to what the spy shots suggest, it could become a strong volume driver in the fast-growing compact EV segment. The model may also give Hyundai a sharper answer to rivals already active in this space.
