The Initial Reveal – Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe

Jeep is committed to protecting the environment as the auto manufacturer announced its plans for electrification at the recent Stellantis EV Day Event. During the process, Jeep unveiled its latest entrant, the Grand Cherokee 4xe, on its 80th anniversary day. This plug-in hybrid vehicle is the fourth EV model after the Wrangler 4Xe, Compass 4xe, and the Renegade 4xe.

The Official Debut – Is on the cards soon

Car lovers will have to wait till the 2021 New York International Auto Show to witness the official unveil of the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe Plug-in hybrid model. The design revealed now displays a 3-row long-wheelbase vehicle, aptly named Grand Cherokee L. While the regular Jeep Grand Cherokee features the V6 and V8 petrol engines, the Grand Cherokee 4xe is a plug-in hybrid.

Engine Details – Still Under Wraps

Though Jeep has not revealed the engine details, one expects it to be on the same lines as the Wrangler 4xe. Hence, it could feature a 4WD electric mode capable of taking the SUV off-road on electric power alone.Another expected feature is the P2P charging facility where one PHEV can recharge another using a cable. Other expected features include autonomous off-road driving and biometric recognition.

The Indian Launch?

The 5th gen Jeep Grand Cherokee might launch in India sometime in late 2022. Reports suggest that the company could produce the brand in India rather than adopting the CBU route. However, the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe launch date in India is not yet confirmed. Instead, Jeep could launch a 3-row Compass derivative, Jeep Meridian, sometime in mid-2022.
