Kawasaki is anticipated to expand its lineup with new spy shots showcasing  KLX 230 S dual-sport bike testing in India. The test mule of KLX 230 S has been spotted with several India-specific features, including a saree guard and a front number plate.

Furthermore, the presence of equipment at the rear highlights potential mechanical modifications to enhance its suitability for Indian roads compared to its international counterparts.

Variant and Features Overview

In the international market, KLX 230 S is available in standard and S variants. Given the importance of seat height standard in the Indian market, Kawasaki is expected to introduce the S variant, which is expected to be available with a more accessible seat height of 830mm, compared to 884mm of the standard trim. However, this lower seat height comes with a trade-off in suspension travel and ground clearance. Through its compact structure, KLX 230 S will offer a kerb weight of 131 kg. 

Powertrain and Performance

KLX 230 S once arrived in India, will feature a 233cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine. However specific power and torque figures have not been disclosed yet by the Brand. However experts have anticipated the power and torque measure to reach up to19 bhp and 20.6 Nm respectively, inspired from specifications of existing KLX 230R S. The bike features a purpose-built perimeter frame and  a 21-18-inch spoke wheel combination with single disc brakes equipped with ABS on both ends.

Market Competition and Launch Timeline

In case Kawasaki proceeds with the launch of KLX 230 S in India it would enter into competition with bikes like Hero Xpulse 200 4V. However, an official launch can not be expected until late 2024 or early 2025.
