March 2025 Car Sales in India Revealed: Maruti Suzuki on Top

Maruti Suzuki
Maruti Suzuki is known for its affordable and fuel-efficient vehicles in the Indian market. In March 2025, the automaker sold 1,60,016 units, while it had sales of 1,61,304 units last year in the corresponding month. Maruti saw growth in its utility vehicle sales of 61,097 units from 58,436 units in March 2024, while the mini and compact vehicle segment saw a slight decline in the sales figures. The automaker sold 1,50,746 units in the domestic market while supplying 6,882 units to other OEMs. The export figures also increased to 1,92,984 units from 1,87,196 units for the same month the previous year.
Hyundai
Hyundai Motor India announced a record-breaking 7,62,052 units in FY25, including 5,98,666 units in the domestic market and 1,63,386 units in the global market. In FY24, the brand reported 6,14,717 units of global sales, showcasing a decline of 3%. However, the combined sales of Hyundai for March 2025 sped by 2.6% YoY to 67,320 units, including 51,820 unit sales in domestic and 15,500 unit sales in the global market.
Mahindra
Mahindra & Mahindra reported the highest-ever sales of 5,51,487 units for FY25, witnessing 20% YoY growth. It's the first time an automaker has sold over 5 lakh units in the Indian market. In March 2025, the brand announced auto sales of 83,894 units. Out of these, Mahindra sold 48,048 SUVs during the month, witnessing 18% YoY growth. Mahindra also positively responded to its electric SUVs, including the BE6 and XEV 9e.
Tata Motors
Tata Motors's sales for March 2025 stood at 51,616 units against 50,110 units in the same month last year. The Indian automaker also reported YoY sales growth of 3.01%, with its EV sales declining by 20.56% to 5,353 units against 6,738 units in March 2024.
Toyota
Toyota Kirloskar Motor saw YoY sales growth of 11%, with sales of 30,043 units against 27,180 units in the same month last year. The automaker sold 28,373 units in India, while it exported 1,670 units in global markets. For FY25, Toyota announced its highest-ever sales of 3,37,148 units against 2,63,512 units in FY24, recording a double-digit growth of 28%.
Kia
The Korean automobile manufacturer Kia announced 25,525 unit sales in March 2025, while it had 21,400 units in the same month last year. The automaker reported 19.28% YoY and nearly 2% MoM sales growth, with an export number of 25,026 units in February 2025. The cumulative sales number of FY25 stood at 2,55,207 units, with the top-selling models being Kia Seltos, Kia Sonet, and Kia Carens.
