Maruti Brezza Facelift leak reveals 1-litre turbo-petrol engine and new features

Maruti Suzuki's Brezza facelift is set to launch later this week, and new leaks have revealed key updates. The most significant change is the addition of a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine, likely borrowed from the Maruti Fronx. This new engine will be offered alongside the existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine.

Engine and Powertrain Updates

Recent images and a video show 'Turbo' and 'Boosterjet' badging on the Brezza's tailgate. This confirms the introduction of the turbo-petrol engine option. Maruti first introduced the 1-litre turbo-petrol 'Boosterjet' engine in the Baleno RS in 2017. The engine was later discontinued but returned in a modified and localised form in the Fronx crossover. The Brezza will become the second Maruti model to use this engine.

While full specifications are not yet available, the engine is expected to have a similar tune to the Fronx. A new 6-speed manual gearbox, previously spotted in spy images, is also likely to be offered. The 1-litre turbo-petrol Boosterjet engine should provide a balance of performance and efficiency for the updated SUV.

Features and Equipment

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift will introduce several new features. These include ventilated front seats, a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and ambient lighting. Existing features such as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless phone charger, a single-pane sunroof, automatic climate control, and connected car technology will continue to be available.

For safety, the updated Brezza will offer front parking sensors, six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), rear parking sensors, hill hold assist (HHA), a 360-degree camera, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages. These additions aim to enhance both comfort and safety for occupants.

Pricing and Competition

The new Brezza is expected to start at Rs 8.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The base LXI variant has also been leaked, providing a more affordable entry point for buyers. The Brezza will compete with several compact SUVs in the Indian market. Key rivals include the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Skoda Kylaq, Kia Syros, Maruti Fronx, Toyota Taisor, Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger.
