The price hike affects both petrol and diesel versions of the Toyota Fortuner. The petrol automatic variant now costs Rs 60,000 more. Diesel variants see different increases, with higher trims facing steeper hikes

The Toyota Legender and GR-S models, along with the standard 4WD automatic, have the largest price jumps. The GR-S variant has the highest increase at Rs 87,000. The Legender mild-hybrid automatic is up by Rs 83,000. Other diesel trims, including both two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive options, have increased by Rs 65,000 to Rs 78,000.

Engine and Variant Details

The Fortuner continues with its existing engine lineup. The petrol model uses a 2.7-litre engine that produces 166 HP and comes only with an automatic transmission. Diesel versions feature a 2.8-litre engine delivering 204 HP. These are available with both manual and automatic gearboxes. Select diesel automatic variants also offer a 48V mild-hybrid system. Four-wheel drive is available only with diesel trims.

Future Plans and Sales Performance

Toyota plans to keep the ladder-frame chassis and the 2.8-litre diesel engine with a mild-hybrid system for the next-generation Fortuner. This approach aims to maintain a balance between performance and efficiency, especially as stricter emission standards are introduced.

The price revision comes as Toyota reports strong sales in India. Between January and April 2026, Toyota sold over 1.37 lakh vehicles, marking a 19 percent year-on-year increase. Domestic sales reached about 1.27 lakh units during this period, reflecting a 20 percent growth compared to the previous year.

CarBike 360 Says

The latest price hike for the Toyota Fortuner reflects rising input costs and sustained demand for premium SUVs in India. Despite the increase, the Fortuner continues to remain a strong contender in its segment, thanks to its reliability, road presence, and performance. Buyers may see this as a minor setback, but demand is unlikely to slow down significantly.
