The Driverless Paradigm of Sony comes with 33 inbuilt sensors which can detect passengers around and even vehicles nearby to provide best driving support. Sony is experienced in the field of Entertainment and Electronics segment, which can be implemented in future generation Electric Cars. The Electronic devices are been send to other Automakers and now Sony has decided to develop their own product with all the necessary features inbuilt in the cars. 

Sony has not yet provided the detailed Specification of their cars. Some of the specifications that have been disclosed are the car's dimensions, which measures 1,450 mm in height, 1,900 mm in width and 4,895 mm in length. The expected ground clearance of the vehicle is said to be 120 mm and will have a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. Sony Vision S claims the top speed of the car will be 240kmph and can reach from 0 to 100 in just 4.8 seconds. 

Sony’s Electronics is considered to be one of the best and Vision S will be facilitated by Sony’s 360 Degree Audio offering the best experience to their customers. The speakers are said to be fixed inbuilt in every seat of the car so that each and every passenger inside the car can enjoy and feel of the music with a personalised audio configuration option. There will be a panoramic screen in the car that can be accessed by the passenger and the driver. 

The Vision S will consist of Numerous Sensors inbuilt which will continuously keep a track on the inside and the outside environment. The additional features of vision S will include Oval Sensing, Driving Assistance, Advanced Camera Monitoring System, Driver Monitoring. Oval Sensing will keep an eye 360 degrees around the car and will also focus on safety when the car is in motion, Driver Assistance will include some special features like Self-Parking, auto-lane changing options, advanced cruise control which will provide next-level driving assistance. Camera Sensors will keep an eye on the vehicles coming nearby and will give an alert to the driver even before the driver notices it. One of the Unique features in the Vision S will include monitoring the condition of the driver and passengers depending on the facial expressions and body movements which will help to provide necessary alerts to the drivers and accordingly will set the temperature inside the car. One of the Advanced Audio engineering systems have been designed for this vision-S car which will provide audio signal processing technology and customers will have the real audio experience inside the cabin space. 



Sony Vision-S Electric Car Being Tested On Public Roads

[Ford](https://carbike360.com/news/ford-to-close-three-manufacturing-plants-in-brazil) was facing a difficult situation due to the shortened supply of a critical part. Due to this pause in the supply, Ford India’s Maraimalai Nagar factory near Chennai is going to be shut down for a week after Pongal. The plant was initially closed on January 14 for a three-day shutdown for Pongal festival. It has now extended the shutdown up to January 24.

Commenting on this, a Ford India spokesperson said that there was a plan to open the Chennai plant on January 18, Monday after the Pongal break, which now has been extended for a week. The shortage of the semiconductor (chip) has become a serious issue for the company and the team is trying to start the supply again. He further said that the semiconductor shortage will impact the company's operations in India. Due to this, the production will remain impacted across Chennai and Sanand plants through the entire quarter.

According to industry sources, this shortage of the semiconductor and its impact will hit the production of Ford vehicles for the domestic, as well as, the export market by 50 per cent. The company produced somewhere around 7,000 vehicles in December. The total production of the company during April-December was just under 65,000 units.

Not just in this factory, there is a global shortage of semiconductor chips that has started disrupting automobile factories all around the globe. These chips are an essential part of infotainment systems, as well as, other electrical components in a vehicle. Because of this shortage, Ford has already shut down one of its US plants. Apart from this, Toyota’s Chinese plant, Honda’s UK plant, as well as, Audi and Volkswagen’s factories in Germany are all witnessing shutdowns in their production units due to this supply disruption.


Ford India Extends Pongal Shut Down Due to Chip Shortage

Tata Motors has announced a price hike of up to ₹ 26,000 across its various model range. This hike in the price of the cars will start from today and will be different for different models. The company had already announced a price hike on its commercial vehicles last month and the current increase has been announced only on its passenger vehicle range. Hike in the prices of vehicles happens in the auto industry at the beginning of every year due to various reasons. The increase in the cost of materials regulates the prices and then there are other factors like an increase in the price of diesel that affects the transportation cost and salary revisions in the company. In an official statement, the company said that rising costs of input and material costs of steel, semi-conductors, as well as, the precious metals have compelled the brand to distribute some of the cost to customers.

Demand for passenger vehicle range of Tata Motors including cars and SUVs have grown by 39 per cent in the first three quarters of FY21 as compared to the demand in FY20 during the same period. Speaking of the third quarter of FY21, the brand also recorded its highest sales in the last 33 quarters and is now working on liquidating the supply chain and increase its output to meet the increased demand.

Apart from Tata, there are other companies as well that have been announcing price hikes for the new year. Brands like BMW India and Audi are also increasing the prices from 2021 in the luxury car segment. Brands like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Mahindra, and Honda are also a few other brands that have increased prices from January 1. In the two-wheeler segment, Hero MotoCorp and Jawa Motorcycles are also planning to hike prices from the coming month and people can also expect a number of new announcements in the near future.

Union minister Nitin Gadkari stated on Saturday, supporting the scrappage policy mentioned in the Budget it would carry India to lead automobile manufacturing hub worldwide within five years. In an interview with media at Wardha, MP from Nagpur stated that Sindi (Railway) nearby Wardha is likely to be transformed into a huge logistics park and he would plan on shifting the depot for Container Corporation of India (CCI) in Nagpur. The area is prepared as a dry spot with direct connectivity to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), Mumbai. This raises a serious question if the proposed Mihan cargo hub will be dropped or will stay.

Vehicles aged more than 15 years require more maintenance and are less fuel-efficient, said the union minister adding further, “With the change in technology, new vehicles require less maintenance and are fuel-efficient. We would provide discounts, for example, 5 per cent on the price of new vehicles to those who offer their old ones for scrap”. Elaborating further, he signalled about domestic production of electric vehicles and lithium batteries. He further added that scrap from aluminium, plastic, iron and rubber will help getting started with the upcoming industry.

He further added, “We would levy a green tax on old vehicles. I am a big supporter of bio-fuel and have plans to make Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara, Gondia and Gadchiroli diesel-free cities in five years. Even in Budget, the government has made provision for 25,000 electric buses for city transportation. A tractor powered by bio-CNG will also be launched in Delhi on February 12 by petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan”.

A provision of Rs50 crore to Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Rural Industrialization (MGIRI) in Wardha has been decided by the Ministry of Micro and Small Industries. Gadkari added, he is planning to transform it into a world-class institute for training purpose in tribal, forest and agriculture research and industrialization sector. Gadkari further added, “It would be developed on the lines of the proposed Terracotta centre in Ballarpur for promoting local handicraft products and would soon get a full-time director”. 

Lauding the budget, Gadkari said it would strengthen Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of an independent make in India aka (Atmanirbhar Bharat). He further added, “The government is planning to come up with ethanol fuel and it would cost just Rs60. Many companies have already started manufacturing such vehicles.”
