Hyundai Sonata did not achieve a lot of success in the market. It went through a generation upgrade and then a facelift as well. Unlike in its previous versions, the new Sonata has sporty styling, due to the application of the brand's new fluidic philosophy. The exterior of the car comes with long sweeping HID headlamps, all-chrome grille and a long bonnet.
On the inside, the driver gets a 10-way electrically adjustable seat. The dash is uncluttered and feels good with a soft-touch plastic all around. The additional features include cruise control, steering mounted controls, individual climate control, keyless entry, and more. The car is quite spacious as well, even at the rear, there is enough space with comfortable seats. This is due to the revised dimensions that have resulted in a longer wheelbase.
The Sonata is powered by a 2.4-litre petrol engine. Press the start button and the engine comes alive with barely a whisper. The 6-speed auto box also gives a smooth drive. The transmission unit is a little lazy when it comes to some hard driving. For regular driving, however, the shifts are seamless and offer good driveability. The engine offers a maximum power output of 201bhp with a peak torque of 250Nm. As a result, the Sonata speeds up quite quickly. The smoothness of the engine mutes the feeling of speed. So one needs to look at the speedo to know how fast the car is going. Hyundai also offers the Sonata with a 6-speed manual transmission. The light clutch makes the car easy to drive in the city. In the MT version, the parking brake is on the central tunnel while in the AT the parking brake is on the foot.
In conclusion, it would be right to say that the car's ride quality is outstanding. The suspension of the car has also been designed to absorb road irregularities.
