Alto vs Celerio Comparison
The Maruti Suzuki Alto could well qualify as the ideal first car for many a household in India. Besides being extremely affordable, the Alto comes equipped with quality features to rank the most popular hatchback available in India.Appearance-wise, the Maruti Suzuki Celerio looks similar to the Alto but with a slightly bigger frame. The larger size allows more space in the interiors and thus helps the Celerio qualify as a more comfortable vehicle to drive in than the Alto.

Exterior Looks
The Alto is right there along with its fellow Maruti Suzuki siblings when it comes to style and elegance. The small and compact car comes with a comparatively large radiator grille flanked by equally large headlights. The body-coloured bumpers match beautifully with the black grille to accentuate its beauty to the next level. The black rubber skirting line passing through the sides adds to the overall elegance. The tail lamps shine brightly whenever you brake the vehicle and announces its presence on the road ahead.
The Maruti Suzuki Celerio comes in six beautiful colours to grab eyeballs every time you see it on the roads. The elegant front grille and the back door garnish adds to the overall beauty of this hatchback. The powerful headlamps flanking the radiator grille make for an exciting sight. The raised wheel arches make the vehicle look better than its closest competitor, the Alto. The body-coloured bumpers look stunning in every respect.

Interiors and Comfort
The Maruti Alto is a small car. However, it has sufficient space for two adults to sit comfortably in the rear seats and stretch their legs. The advantage of being a small car is that it cools quickly with the excellent AC system that the Alto comes with. The perfectly placed steering wheel makes it easy for the driver to guide this small hatchback through busy city traffic. The infotainment system allows you to multitask while driving without getting distracted.
When it comes to interiors, the Celerio offers more space than the Alto. However, the sight of the road ahead looks the same as the driver seat sits low enough. However, it is an advantage because of the vehicle’s low height. In addition, the high-quality upholstery and the symmetrical dashboard design add to the overall luxury quotient. One of the better aspects of the vehicle is the remarkable space available in the boot, much larger than what the Alto offers.
Engine and Performance
The Maruti Suzuki Alto comes with an 800cc engine that pairs with a 5-speed manual transmission system to deliver a maximum power of 35.3kW @ 6000rpm and torque of 69Nm @ 3500rpm. Though the vehicle has low ground clearance, the high-quality suspension system allows you to enjoy a comfortable ride. As a result, the Maruti Suzuki Alto delivers 22.05kmpl with the petrol engine and 31.59km/kg with the CNG variant.
The Celerio comes equipped with a more powerful 1.0L K10B engine that delivers the power of 54kW @ 6000rpm and torque of 90Nm @ 3500rpm. This BS6-compliant motor mates with a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox to deliver an excellent mileage performance of 21.63kmpl with the petrol engine and 30.47km/kg in the CNG mode. The electronic power steering makes it easy for the vehicle to navigate heavy traffic in the city and cruise along comfortably on the highways.
Ride, Handling, and Safety
The Maruti Suzuki Alto offers dual airbags to provide the ideal support to the driver and front co-passenger. In addition, this small hatchback comes equipped with smart reverse parking sensors to help the driver park the vehicle safely. Seatbelt reminders ensure that the driver and the other passengers adhere to safety discipline. ABS and EBD provide the required safety when braking.
The Celerio offers excellent safety for the driver and the fellow front-seat co-passenger by providing dual airbags to enhance their safety. In addition, the Anti-lock Braking System allows the driver to control the vehicle better when braking under adverse conditions. Besides, Maruti Suzuki has ensured that the Celerio is now a pedestrian, offset, and side-impact safety-compliant vehicle.
CarBike360 Says
The Maruti Suzuki Alto is a compact hatchback available at the most reasonable pricing. This vehicle comes in petrol and CNG variants, with the lowest-priced version available at a little under Rs 3 lakhs.
The Celerio is available in three primary trims that branch out into 12 different variants depending on the engine they come equipped with. However, the lowest-priced Celerio is still available at an attractive Rs 4.66 lakhs.
Given a choice, one can opt for the Celerio because it offers better luxury and space than the Alto. However, nothing can detract the Alto from its performance and popularity levels as one of the best-selling Maruti vehicles for a long time.
