The 4-wheeler sales numbers of major automobile brands are out. The automobile industry has seen a significant bump in the sales of 4-wheelers, estimated to be around 4% YoY (Year on Year) growth with the total number of cars being sold in May 2024 (3,49,054 units) being 13,523 units more than May 2023 (3,35,531 units), and a 3.5% MoM (Month on Month) growth with the difference of 11,986 units between April 2024 (3,37,068 units) and May 2024 (3,49,054 units).
Maruti Suzuki continued to lead the market with a rather significant margin, selling a whopping 1,44,002 units, while the others did only manage to come close to the 50,000 units mark for May 2024

Maruti Suzuki India Limited registered a total sales of 1,44,002 units in May 2024. Last month i.e. in April 2024, the brand’s sales numbers stood at 1,37,952 units. This results in a MoM growth of 4.39%.
Additionally, Maruti Suzuki sold 1,43,708 units in May 2023, constituting a YoY growth of 0.20%.

Hyundai Motors India May 2024 Sales Report
Hyundai Motors India Limited registered a total sales of 49,151 units in May 2024. Last month i.e. in April 2024, the brand’s sales numbers stood at 50,201 units. This results in a MoM decline of 2.09%.
Additionally, Hyundai Motors sold 48,601 units in May 2023, constituting a YoY growth of 1.13%.

Mahindra SUVs May 2024 Sales Report
Mahindra Cars registered a total sales of 43,218 units in May 2024. Last month i.e. in April 2024, the brand’s sales numbers stood at 41,008 units. This results in a MoM growth of 5.39%.
Additionally, Mahindra sold 32,886 units in May 2023, constituting a YoY growth of 31.42%.
The recently launched Mahindra XUV 3XO contributed 2,500 units in the brand’s May 2024 sales numbers.

Additionally, Toyota Motors sold 20,410 units in May 2023, constituting a YoY growth of 17.39%.

Additionally, MG India sold 5006 units in May 2023, constituting a YoY decline of 4.73%.
The electric models from MG i.e. Comet EV and ZS EV, both contributed a significant 36% of total sales in May 2024.
