Bridgestone Corporation Secures Key Role in Sustainable Motorsports Strategy
In a pivotal announcement at the World Motor Sport Council in Baku, Bridgestone Corporation has been appointed by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) as the exclusive tyre supplier for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, commencing from the 2026-2027 season. This selection marks a significant milestone for Bridgestone's overarching sustainable global motorsports strategy.
The FIA's decision to entrust Bridgestone with sole tyre supplier status for Formula E, spanning the seasons from 2026-2027 through 2029-2030, underscores the company's commitment to pioneering sustainable technology within the motorsports realm. This strategic partnership aligns with Bridgestone's mission to not just deliver top-quality products but also revolutionize the lifecycle of tyres—from production and usage to renewal into raw materials.
Bridgestone's dedication extends beyond the confines of racing circuits. The company's aim is to significantly contribute to the realization of a sustainable society, a commitment highlighted in their recent media release.
Shu Ishibashi, the Global CEO and Representative Executive Officer of Bridgestone Corporation, expressed immense enthusiasm about this development. He emphasized the company's long-standing passion for motorsports, celebrating 60 years of relentless commitment to this arena.
Ishibashi underscored Bridgestone's ethos of empowering peak performance on the racetrack while prioritizing safety—a principle deeply ingrained in the company's philosophy: "tires carry life." He emphasized that this move back to an FIA World Championship aligns perfectly with Bridgestone's legacy and vision for the future.
Looking ahead, Bridgestone aims to evolve premium motorsports products with a sustainable edge. The focal point of their collaboration with the FIA lies in the expansion and enhancement of their "ENLITEN" tyre product technology. This innovation paves the way for "ultimate customization," shaping a new premium standard in the EV era.
Ishibashi expressed eagerness about Bridgestone's upcoming involvement in Formula E, slated to commence from the 2026-2027 season. This collaboration signifies not only a return but also a fresh chapter in Bridgestone's enduring legacy within the world of motorsports.
