Discover the 2023 Mercedes GLC Coupe: a sleek, luxurious SUV with advanced technology and powerful performance.

Introducing the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe: A Hybrid Design Masterpiece

The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe is a luxury compact crossover SUV that boasts a sleek and sporty design, combining the best features of a coupe and an SUV. The 2023 model takes an electrified route, featuring a hybrid powertrain that delivers a powerful and efficient performance.

The GLC Coupe is equipped with advanced features, such as a large infotainment system, wireless charging, and driver assistance technologies, which ensure a comfortable and safe driving experience.

Engine

The new GLC Coupe still offers both petrol and diesel engines, but they have all been electrified and mated to a 48-volt hybrid system (for the mild-hybrid engines). These engines are offered in four variants: the GLC 200 4MATIC, GLC 300 4MATIC, GLC 200 d 4MATIC, and GLC 300 d 4MATIC.

Under hard acceleration, the mild hybrid system helps the powertrains and provides an extra 200 Nm of torque. The plug-in hybrid vehicles come with an optional 60kW charger, which can top off the battery in them in about 30 minutes, in addition to the basic 11kW charger.

Here are the power figures for each model-

GLC 300 e 4MATIC (Petrol)

Power: 313 PSTorque: 550 Nm

GLC 400 e 4MATIC (Petrol)

Power: 381 PSTorque: 650 Nm

GLC 300 de 4MATIC (Diesel)

Power: 333 PSTorque: 750 Nm

Interior

The interior of the GLC Coupe is spacious and luxurious, with premium materials and finishes that exude sophistication and elegance.

The cabin is the only area where the GLC and GLC Coupe are almost identical. The 11.9-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen entertainment system occupies the centre of the otherwise very straightforward and plain central console, which has undergone the same interior renovation as the normal GLC for the GLC Coupe.

Three rectangular air vents are located on top of it, and the 12.3-inch digital driver's display is visible behind the recognisable three-spoke Mercedes steering wheel. The list of goodies also includes items like ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, a heads-up display, and an optional 15-speaker Burmester sound system in addition to the screens described above.

Several airbags, a 360-degree camera, and autonomous driving tools including emergency braking, active steering aid, and parking assist are all part of the safety kit.

Exterior

The style is a development of the previous GLC coupe. The grille on the front is fairly similar to that of a traditional SUV, but everything else seems much sleeker. The headlight is more streamlined than previously and has new interior styling.

The sloping roofline is noticeable from the side, and the 19- or 20-inch (optional) wheels nicely match the body colour of the wheel arches. Even the back appears much more svelte, especially the taillights that are located just below the boot lip on the sloped upper part of the rear with a drag coefficient (Cd) value of 0.27, the new GLC Coupe is not only more aerodynamically appealing than its SUV predecessor, but also more so on paper (GLC SUV: 0.30 Cd).

Launch details

The new GLC SUV could be introduced later this year, at which point the GLC Coupe is anticipated to follow. It will likely cost more than the current model and compete with the Porsche Macan.
