Although, the C-segment crossover SUV is mildly filled with just 4 condenders i.e Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, and Renault Duster. Out of these 4, the former two are selling in massive numbers and are hugely accountable for the brand’s success in India. With the newly launched Skoda Kushaq, the competition has got another robust contender in the segment which is built specifically for India. Skoda Kushaq is introduced as the 1st vehicle under India 2.0 strategy from Volkswagen and is based on a derivative of MQB A0 platform which also drives Audi Q5.While the Kushaq looks so promising and capable, It should go neck and neck with the Korean players which are ruling the segment with tremendous sales numbers and a waiting period that’s as long as 3-6 months for few variants. We have jotted a few common and differentiating points between Skoda Kushaq, ia Seltos and Hyundai Creta and tried to come to a conclusion. This is just an on-paper comparison and the real time fight will come up once the german vehicle will be on sale. Exteriors:In terms of external dimensions, Skoda Kushaq is the shortest one of the lot. It is shorter than Kia Seltos and Hyundai in length, width and height. The only thing which is bigger in Kushaq is the wheelbase which lets you have a better stretch inside the cabin. Below are the dimensions for your reference.
| Dimensions | Skoda Kushaq | Kia Seltos | Hyundai Creta |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wheelbase | 2,651 mm | 2,610 mm | 2,610 mm |
| Length | 4,221 mm | 4,315 mm | 4,300 mm |
| Width | 1,760 mm | 1,800 mm | 1,790 mm |

Despite being based on the same platform, the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos look completely different from one another and carry their own distinct charm. Though, the looks are something very subjective and may vary from person to person, both the cars excel in terms of equipment they have. They are well adorned with LED headlamps, fog lamps, tail lamps and DRL, 17 inch alloy wheels with 215mm size rubber, and sunroof. Everything in these two cars are placed well and doesn't look too exaggerated especially in the Seltos.Likewise, Skoda Kushaq has a subtle design philosophy. Everything is spot on and looks typically Skoda. The Czech manufacturer is known for its subtle and simplistic design and with the Kushaq, they have managed to maintain the same. The big new butterfly grill is massive enough to give the SUV a bold stance. It gets projector lights and the element inside it isn’t confirmed yet by the brand if it’s a HID or LED. On the sides, the Kushaq gets 17 inch alloys with 205mm size rubber. The rear section gets a pair of LED stop lights with reflectors. The diffuser on the bumper covers a major section of bumper and looks good. InteriorsAll these three cars are built with the best features and are loaded to the brim with the best in class stereo system paired with steering mounted controls and support from Android and Apple OS systems. The storage space inside these cars is also generous and you can fit in your nitty gritties here across the cubby holes. These cars also have some distinct futuristic elements like Kushaq ha type C ports for smartphone charging and sliding central armrest whereas Seltos and Creta receives Air purifier system and Bose music system. In terms of head and leg room, all three cars are well built and have decent shape to fit in a 6-feet tall. The seats are comfortable and you get ample space for 4 occupants. While Koreans have slightly softer seats, the Kushaq may fall short in underthigh support. In terms of boot space, Seltos and Creta gets 433 litres of space while Kushaq manages with 389 litres. So, the vehicles are very closely matched and remain subjective to the buyer’s preference.Technical FrontSkoda Kushaq will arrive with two engine options and both are turbo petrol units. The first one is a smaller engine with 1.0-litre turbo petrol that churns out 115PS of power with 215Nm of torque mated to either a 6 speed manual or 6 speed torque converter. The bigger engine is 1.5-litre turbo petrol and generates 150PS of power with 250Nm and transfers the power either through a 6 speed manual or a 7 speed DSG transmission. The Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta also get 2 petrol engines. The first one is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated unit with 115PS of power and 142Nm of torque. The more powerful one is a 1.4-litre unit that churns out 140PS of power and 242 Nm of torque. In terms of power, the Kushaq and Korean twins have got a similar power with bigger variations in torque for the lesser powerful one. The real world scenario can be assessed only when the Skoda Kushaq will be available for a test drive.Skoda has brought a really tough contender on the ground. While there are few lows and highs in the Kushaq in comparison to the Korean brothers, the real picture will arrive once the car will be here in the showroom for test drives. If you would have to choose a car out of these three, what would have been your choice?
