An electric hatchback with a 400-km range is unveiled by BYD

The new little electric hatchback Seagull has been unveiled by Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD. The Seagull electric vehicle, which will be offered in China, Europe, Israel, Thailand, and New Zealand, has received its first official photographs from the EV manufacturer.

The BYD Seagull EV, which is intended to be sold as an inexpensive EV, will be formally launched on April 18 at the Shanghai Motor Show. BYD, the second-largest manufacturer of electric vehicles behind Tesla, offers EVs such as the Atto3 SUV and the e6 electric MPV for sale in India.

The BYD Seagull EV stands somewhat taller than the Tata Tiago EV, both of which are based on the automaker's e-Platform 3.0. It is a four-door, four-seat electric vehicle that is 3,780 mm long, 1715 mm wide, and 1540 mm tall.

With LED headlights, a sizable trapezoidal air inlet in the bottom portion of the front bumper, and a spoiler on the boot lid, the BYD Seagull has a dynamic appearance in terms of style.

The cabin's appearance has not yet been disclosed by BYD. However, a digital instrument panel and a sizable touchscreen for infotainment are anticipated to be included.

Two different battery sizes will be available for the BYD Seagull electric vehicle, both of which will be equipped with an LFP battery. A smaller 30 kWh unit and a larger 38 kWh unit will both be available. The Seagull may be the first electric vehicle (EV) to be sold with a sodium-ion battery as well, according to sources. Complete information is anticipated closer to the EV's formal debut.

According to the Chinese driving cycle CLTC, the model with the big battery will have a range of 405 kilometres on a single charge. The smaller battery version has a 305 km CLTC range. Two different electric motor options will power the electrified hatchback. Both a 74-horsepower unit and a 94-horsepower electric motor will be available for it. The Seagull EV will have a 130 kmph peak speed.
