Honda Cars India faced a challenging start in 2025, with January sales dropping 15.6% year-on-year. However, a 31% increase from December offers hope for recovery.

Honda Car Sales in January 2025: 15.6% YoY decline in sales

Honda Cars India’s 2025 got off to a bumpy start. Domestic sales took a hit compared to January 2024, sliding from 8,681 cars sold last year to 7,325 this January—a 15.6% drop. But there’s a hope for improvement in the upcoming months: sales shot up by nearly 31% compared to December 2024’s sluggish 5,603 units, likely thanks to the usual post-holiday rebound.

Exports saved the day a bit. The company shipped 4,979 cars overseas last month, up almost 10% from 4,531 units a year ago. Combined, total sales for January hit 12,304 units, but that still fell short of January 2024’s 13,212. Year-to-date, though, Honda’s doing better—103,944 cars sold in FY25 so far, a 7% jump over last year’s 97,164 during the same stretch.

Kunal Behl, Honda’s VP of Marketing & Sales, isn’t sweating it. He credits recent launches like the upgraded Amaze, the sleek Elevate Black Edition, and the sporty City Apex Edition for revving up customer interest. With these new models rolling out, Honda’s betting on a stronger 2025 ahead.
