India’s electric passenger vehicle market held steady in June 2025, registering a total of 13,174 units, reflecting a marginal 0.4% month-on-month growth. While the overall momentum remained cautious, the segment saw key shifts in brand performances.
Market leaders like Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra posted positive gains, while JSW MG Motor experienced a slight dip. Meanwhile, premium players like BMW and Kia India showed growth, contrasting with notable slowdowns from Hyundai, BYD, and Volvo. The data reveals a market-balancing consolidation at the top with sporadic bursts of activity from niche and emerging players.
Top 3 OEMs Dominate the Market
Tata Motors continues to lead the electric passenger vehicle space with 4,705 units, a slight 2.2% increase from May. Tata holds a commanding 35.7% market share, reaffirming its dominance thanks to models like the Nexon EV and Tiago EV.
JSW MG Motor, known for the ZS EV and Comet, is close behind with 3,972 units, although it saw a 2.1% dip compared to last month. Mahindra & Mahindra, riding high on the success of the XUV400 and new BE lineup, posted a healthy 6.9% M-o-M growth to hit 3,029 units, capturing a 23% market share.

However, Volvo Auto India continued its downward trend, dropping by 37.1% to just 22 units. Interestingly, the ‘Others’ category saw a 262.5% jump, albeit from a small base, possibly indicating the entry or scale-up of smaller or newer players.
