Kia EV6 has been globally unveiled as a hot electric SUV cum crossover. Kia is loving to call it a crossover and with its shape and dimensions, it seems to be one too. However, the cabin space seems quite big and comfortable like any mid size SUV. KIA EV6

Kia EV6 will be available in 3 variants; EV6, EV6 GT-Line and EV6 GT. The three variants are segregated in terms of long range (77.4 kWh) and standar range (58 kWh) battery packs. The EV6 will get standard range range, EV6 GT Line will have both the configurations while the EV6 GT will be the most powerful one with only long range capacity. This crossover will be available with 2 wheel drive and all wheel drive options which is a first from the South Korean brand. WIth a 800V charger, this car can be charged from 0 to 80% in mere 18 minutes. The GT variant is the most powerful one here and clocks 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.5 seconds and can go upto 260 kmph of speed. The EV6 variant with 2WD option can travel for 510 km on a single charge with the long range (77.4 kWh) battery pack. It has an acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.2 seconds. The long range configuration with 2WD gets a 225hp motor to power the rear wheels while the same configuration with AWD gets a 321hp motor to power front and rear wheels. In either case, it produces a torque of 605Nm.The standard range battery pack also comes with 2WD and AWD options and powers the EV6 variant. In this variant also, the torque is locked at 605Nm and gets a 165hp motor and 232hp motor for 2WD and AWD battery packs respectively. It can go from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.2 seconds.
In terms of design the car looks quite balanced just like any other Kia. It is loaded to the brim with features and has an aggressive appeal. Outside the car Kia has tried something new by not giving a prominent tiger nose grill. The triangular headlights are all LED with two of its edges carrying LED DRLs. The face looks quite aggressive and muscular with a bulky hump on the bonnet new brand logo on the nose. The rear gets a single LED strip joining either side of the car’s rear fenders while going all the way over the boot. On the side, the meaty 5 spoke alloy wheels shouts out loud about the vehicle’s capabilities.
Inside the car, it gets a two spoke steering wheel with the brand new Kia logo. It has a sleeker looking dashboard with a 10 inch touch screen sandwiching AC vents from above while the bottom one being the climate control. The central tunnel houses rotary dials for transmission selection, ignition switch, and storage spaces. The speedometer console is entirely digital and shows vehicle’s all the details out there. It also gets a Meridian 14-speaker system with Active Sound Design technology that lets the driver have the audible feedback with respect to the vehicle’s speed. The car is still a far sighted affair for India and the brand may not tap early in our market. Should it be here, do you think it could have been a great answer to Tesla which is coming soon to India? Let us know in the comments
