Toyota Yaris Cross to Take on Hyundai Creta in ASEAN Countries

Toyota has unveiled its all-new mid-size SUV, Yaris Cross, to be sold in ASEAN Markets. The model completely differs from Yaris Cross sold in Europe, and it's specifically designed to be sold in ASEAN Markets.

The all-new SUV will directly compete with Hyundai Creta, which is a major model in the mid-size SUV segment. The new Yaris Cross SUV will first go on sale in Indonesia and then be introduced in other Asian markets.

Featuring a DNGA platform, Toyota Cross measures 1,615 mm in height, 2,620 mm in wheelbase, 1,770 mm in width, and 4,310 mm in length. The carmaker provides a five-seating capacity as standard.

Talking about the outer design, the SUV features a trapezoidal grille at the front, sharp headlights with LED DRLs, squared-off wheel arches, and diamond-cut alloy wheels. Yarris Cross SUV also gets tall bumpers, vertically positioned fog lamps, and an upright roof that is slightly tapered at the back.

Inside the SUV, there is a bigger freestanding touchscreen infotainment system and an all-black cabin with blue stitching. Further, the car packs a multi-function steering wheel, manual buttons for climate control, and a panoramic sunroof.

Yaris Cross gets power from a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine. The engine churns out 104 PS of power and 138 Nm of maximum torque. The automaker has also offered a hybrid petrol engine with an e-CVT gearbox. Yaris Cross's hybrid petrol engine variant can produce a combined power of 115 PS.

Toyota Yaris Cross SUV includes additional features like an electric parking brake (EPB) with auto brake hold, six airbags, ABS with EBD, and brake assistant. Moreover, the automaker has offered Hill Start Assist (HAS), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), and Blind Spot Monitor.
