Zontes 350D maxi-scooter | when will it come to India

With the launch of the Zontes 350 D, the maxi-scooter industry in Europe has grown competitive and intriguing. While having a huge engine displacement, this scooter is more designed for commuting within cities than between them. What exactly does the package include, then? Zontes, a Chinese manufacturer, has made its debut in India and is now selling five bikes based on the same engine and frame architecture. One of the maxi-scooters the brand displayed at Auto Expo 2023, the 350D, has now been introduced in Europe.

Engine

A 349cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine producing 36.2hp at 7,500 rpm and 38Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm powers the Zontes 350D. It weighs 188kg when its 12-litre petrol tank is completely stocked.

With these performance stats, it competes with the BMW C 400 GT maxi-scooter, which is about 26 kg lighter yet still capable of producing identical peak output figures.

Features and Specification

It offers amenities like keyless ignition, a colour TFT dash, two USB charging ports (type-A and type-C), a tyre pressure monitoring system, two riding modes (Sport and Eco), traction control, and even an electronically adjustable windscreen, just like all Zontes bikes produced in India.

The Zontes 350D is currently priced at €4,787 (approximately Rs 4.2 lakh), which places it in the same price bracket as a KTM 390 Duke in foreign markets.

Rivals

The Yamaha Aerox 155, Keeway Vieste 300, Keeway Sixties 300i, and the BMW C 400 GT are your only options in India's extremely specialised maxi-scooter sector.

If the Zontes 350D does arrive here, it will almost definitely be much less expensive than its main competition, the Rs 10.75 lakh BMW C 400 GT.
