0-100 kmph in Under 1 Second, Student-built EV breaks World Record in 0.956s

A Swiss team of students from the Academic Motorsports Club Zürich, ETH Zürich, and Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts has set a world record for the fastest acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph in an electric vehicle.

Known as "mother's," the EV has four hub-mounted electric motors that produce 326 horsepower. It's interesting that the automobile weighs only 140kgs for this kind of power. A student named Kate Maghetti operated the vehicle, reaching 100 km/h from a complete stop in just 0.956 seconds.

The attempt to beat the record was made at an airport runway in Dubendorf, Switzerland. It's fascinating to note that the car only needed 12.3 meters to accomplish this. It is just a little bit more than half of a cricket pitch, to put it in context.
