Despite a marginal dip in total sales compared to the previous month, the market remained dynamic with a mix of established players and emerging contenders. 1. Tata Motors
Tata Motors sustained its leadership position with 4,820 units sold in December, reflecting a slight decrease of 4.17% compared to November. The brand continued to dominate the market with an impressive 68.21% market share.
2. MG Motors
MG Motors maintained a positive trajectory, witnessing a 1.82% increase in sales, totaling 952 units. The brand secured a 12.68% market share, solidifying its position as a significant player in the electric car segment.
3. M&M
Mahindra & Mahindra exhibited a reasonable growth, recording a 27.80% increase in sales with a total of 662 units. This surge contributed to a 7.02% market share, underlining M&M's expanding influence.

Monthly Sales Declining: The electric car segment in India witnessed a slight fluctuation in December on a monthly basis as if we compare October and November Sales. Tata Motors which has sold 5,431 units in Oct '23 and 5,030 units in Nov’23 has sold only 4,820 units in Dec '23.
The Overall sales of Electric cars has also declined from 7,432 units in Oct '23 to 7,141 units in Dec’23. Although few of the brands have shown slight growth like MG Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, and BYD India. But still Tata Motors leads the chart and has captured 68.21% of market share.

1. BMW
BMW faced a notable downturn in December, with sales plummeting by 42.70%. Despite this, the brand maintained a respectable 3.81% market share, highlighting its enduring presence.
2. Citroen
Citroen experienced a substantial decline of 61.11%, reflecting a shift in consumer preferences. The brand secured a 1.71% market share in December.
3. Hyundai Motors
Hyundai Motors faced a 25.45% decrease in sales, marking a challenging month. The brand's market share dipped to 2.24%, indicating a need for strategic adjustments.
The electric car market in India remains promising, with a diverse range of brands contributing to its vibrancy. As the industry adapts to evolving consumer preferences and technological advancements, the upcoming months are anticipated to showcase further innovation and market shifts.
New models: The launch of new and attractive models, such as the Tata Altroz EV, the MG Comet EV, and the Hyundai Ioniq 5, which offered better performance, range, features, and design than the existing models, attracted more customers to the electric car segment.
