Dimensions and design of the Kia EV9 concept

The Kia EV9 is almost as big as a Range Rover at 4,929mm in length, 2,055mm in width, and 1,790mm in height. Its 3,100mm wheelbase is also the largest that can be built on the Electric Global Modular Chassis (E-GMP) platform, which also supports the Kia EV6 that is marketed in India.
The EV9 concept will include a lot of show car features in terms of design. An updated version of the iconic "tiger nose" grille with a blanked-out panel, individual LED light modules, and a Z-shaped headlamp cluster can be seen on the face. It is upright and boxy in shape, with clean lines, smooth surfaces, and a sizable glasshouse that kinks sharply at the C-pillar. The rear has a prominent bumper and oddball, vertical LED tail lamps.
However, the production model would probably tone down the rear-hinged doors, absence of a B-pillar, headlamp cluster, and wide wheel arches.

Kia EV9 Concept: characteristics and interior

The EV9 concept's interior will be relatively understated, with a twin-screen infotainment system, a flat-bottom steering wheel without spokes, and no physical controls at all. The proposal will include a three-row configuration with a second row of chairs that can be folded fully flat and a first row of seats that can rotate to create a lounge-like environment, all decked out in wacky ambient lighting.

However, the production model will probably also reduce these. It will have autonomous driving capabilities, support for over-the-air software updates, and feature-on-demand (FOD), which lets customers purchase only the particular features they need.

Kia EV9 Concept powertrain and battery

The 77.4kWh battery pack used in the EV9 concept is also the biggest of the two battery packs offered with the smaller EV6. Expect further information on the official range and output numbers as the production-spec model is introduced, even if those numbers have not yet been made public.

The 800V electrical architecture of the E-GMP platform allows for quick charging at rates of up to 350kW. The battery needs about 20 minutes to quickly charge from 10% to 80%. An entry-level model with a single motor driving the rear axle and a dual-motor, four-wheel-drive range-topper are both anticipated for the EV9.
