Tata Curvv TGDi Engine Confirmed; To Be Called Hyperion

Tata Motors has officially confirmed a new turbocharged direct injection petrol engine for the upcoming Curvv coupe-SUV, making it the first model to use this engine. Dubbed the ‘Hyperion,’ this engine was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2023. It could also be offered in other compact Tata vehicles.

The new engine produces 5hp and 55Nm more than the current engine offered in the Nexon. This increase in output is essential to account for the Curvv’s additional weight due to its lengthened wheelbase.

Refinement and Efficiency

Tata’s existing 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine has not been known for its refinement or performance. However, the company claims the new Hyperion engine will offer higher levels of refinement, improved performance, and better fuel efficiency. It remains to be seen how it performs in real-world conditions.

Announcement: Prices for the Curvv will be announced on August 7.
