With a big, upright grille, a high bonnet line, and body cladding all throughout, Toyota has given the 2017 Innova a more SUV-like appearance. The hexagonal grille is surrounded by chrome on the bottom and has wraparound LED headlamps on either side. The bumpers recieves enormous horizontal Daytime Running Lamps that can also turn indicators and matte silver inlays.
Front has an SUV appearance and the profile has a clear MPV form. Similar to the Crysta, The Hycross receives a huge glasshouse, that guarantees excellent visibility for all three rows.It has a roof-mounted spoiler, large LED taillights, and a blacked-out rear bumper at the back.
Speaking of dimensions, the Hycross is 20mm longer, 20mm wider, and has a 100mm longer wheelbase than the Crysta despite having the same height and ground clearance.

The Hycross' interior entirely differs from the Crysta's in that it has a multi-layered dashboard with horizontal lines. What makes it stand out is the large 10.1-inch floating touchscreen that reaches down to the rectangular AC vents and stack of HVAC controls. On the dashboard, which has soft-touch leather and metallic elements, is where you'll find the gear lever. While the MPV's more affordable models have black fabric seats, its more expensive variations include Dark Chestnut leather seat upholstery and a dual-tone brown and black interior design.
Toyota Hycross comes in five different variants: G, GX, VX, ZX, and ZX (O). Paddle shifters, ventilated front seats, a memory function for the driver's seat, ambient lighting, and a motorised tailgate are among the niceties offered by the highest models. A panoramic sunroof is also included, a first for an Innova.
With features including lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, and a pre-collision system, the new Innova Hycross introduces Toyota's ADAS technology, known as Toyota Safety Sense. Standard traction control ,Six airbags, ABS with EBD, , and ESP are additional safety features.
The Innova Hycross gets seating arrangements with seven and eight seats. Two captain's chairs with segment-first ottoman functionality are given in the 7-seat arrangement for the middle row while, the second and third rows of the 8-seat configuration has benches. All passengers will have three-point seat belts thanks to Toyota.
The new Hycross is made on Toyota's TNGA-C platform and features a monocoque chassis, unlike all prior models of the Innova, which were supported by a ladder-frame design.
There are strong hybrid and petrol engine options for the Innova Hycross, without diesel option. The 2.0-liter, four-cylinder strong-hybrid powertrain uses an Atkinson or Miller cycle to increase fuel efficiency. A hybrid powertrain with an e-Drive transmission and a combined output of 184 horsepower is used.
The same 1,987cc engine, which is not a hybrid, produces 172hp and 205Nm when coupled to a CVT gearbox. The Innova Hycross is available in only front-wheel drive and no manual transmission versions.Toyota claims that the hybrid version will get 23.24 kpl of fuel efficiency, while the normally aspirated model would score 16.13 kpl.
What is noteworthy is, the stronger hybrids are the only ones offered in the higher VX, ZX, and ZX (O) trims, while the non-hybrid powertrain is only available in the base G and GX trims.
Three years or 100,000 kilometres, which can be increased to five years or 2,20,000 kilometres, is the warranty period offered by Toyota. The hybrid's battery is also covered by an eight-year, 1,60,000-kilometer warranty from the automaker.
Although it doesn't have a direct opponent, the new Innova Hycross is in the same price range as three-row SUVs like the Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari. It will also compete with the Kia Carnival, which is expected to go on sale later in the following year.
