Upcoming Mercedes and BMW Launches
1. 2026 Mercedes S-Class
Mercedes-Benz will launch the updated 2026 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Facelift in India on June 15, 2026. The plug-in hybrid S 450e variant will be the first S-Class PHEV in India. It features a 3.0-litre turbo-petrol inline-six engine paired with an electric motor and a 22 kWh battery. This setup delivers 435 HP and 680 Nm, allowing a claimed 0-100 kph time of 5.7 seconds. Mercedes may add a petrol powertrain later, but the future of a diesel option remains uncertain.
The S-Class facelift sports a grille that is 20 percent larger, adorned with small chrome stars and an illuminated frame. The headlights are larger and include tristar DRLs, while the taillights are slimmer with tristar LED motifs.
Inside, the S-Class features an MBUX Superscreen and the latest MB.OS operating system. The dashboard has fewer physical buttons, but Mercedes includes a scroll wheel and a toggle switch on the steering wheel. The car is now a software-defined vehicle with over-the-air updates.
2. BMW X6 M60i
BMW has opened pre-bookings for the X6 M60i, indicating a likely launch in June 2026. The X6 M60i is powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 mild-hybrid petrol engine producing 523 HP and 750 Nm. An 8-speed automatic transmission sends power to all four wheels. The car accelerates from 0-100 kph in a claimed 4.3 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 250 kph.
The coupe-SUV features sleek LED headlights with ‘snake-eye’ DRLs, a gloss-black grille, and functional air intakes. It rides on 21-inch alloys with red brake callipers. The interior offers a dual-screen dashboard, ambient lighting, dual-zone automatic AC, powered, ventilated, and heated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a wireless phone charger.
Other Major Launches and Updates
3. Skoda Kodiaq RS
Skoda will introduce the Kodiaq RS, its first RS-badged SUV in India, expected as a completely built unit import. The international Kodiaq RS uses a retuned 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, producing 60 HP and 80 Nm more than the standard Kodiaq. It comes with a 7-speed DCT and all-wheel drive. The RS version features a black grille, aggressive bumpers, 20-inch rims with red brake callipers, and an all-black cabin with red accents and sportier seats.
4. Tata Sierra EV
Tata Motors is preparing to launch the Sierra EV in June 2026, following the 2026 Tiago EV. The Sierra EV will be positioned below the Harrier EV and will offer both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options. While battery details are not yet disclosed, Tata expects a real-world range of over 500 km. The design includes a blanked-off grille, unique bumper, aerodynamic rims, and a lighter cabin theme. The Sierra EV will compete with the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, Maruti Suzuki eVitara, and MG ZS EV.
5. BYD Atto 2 & Sealion 6
BYD India has teased its first plug-in hybrid for the Indian market. The company has not confirmed the specific model, but internationally, the Atto 2 and Sealion 6 are available with PHEV options.
The Atto 2 PHEV features a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and either a 7.8 kWh or 18 kWh battery, offering a claimed combined range of 928 km and 998 km. The Sealion 6 offers both 1.5-litre naturally aspirated and turbo-petrol engines, paired with 18.3 kWh or 26.6 kWh batteries, and a claimed combined range of up to 1,092 km.
