Upcoming Rivals of Hyundai Creta in 2023: Who wins the Mid-Size SUV Race?

Despite the entry of new models such as Maruti Suzuki's Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, the Hyundai Creta has dominated the mid-size SUV sector.

The rivalry, though, will shortly heat up with the introduction of three new SUVs this year.

While Honda Cars India plans to launch a new SUV by the middle of 2023, Citroen will launch the C3 Aircross during this year's holiday season. According to reports, the Kia Seltos facelift will also be available by mid-2023.

Here's a rundown of the new Hyundai Creta competitor SUVs.

Creta Upcoming Rivals 2023

New Honda Mid-Size SUV

Honda's upcoming SUV will be built on a modified version of the Amaze platform and will share certain design elements and functions with it.

Honda Sensing (ADAS - advanced driver assistance system) is expected to be included, as well as a new 10.2-inch digital driver display, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 6 airbags, 360-degree surround view system, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability management, electronic brakeforce distribution, antilock braking system, electronic stability control, and many other features.

The new Honda SUV might be powered by the 121bhp, 1.5L i-VTEC petrol and 1.5L Atkinson cycle hybrid powertrains.

Kia Seltos Facelift

Kia India is expected to release the improved and enhanced Seltos by the middle of 2023.

The SUV will have a new 1.5L turbo petrol engine with 158bhp and 260Nm of torque. It will take the place of the current 1.4L turbo engine. There will also be 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5L diesel engines available.

The ADAS suite, as well as a 360-degree camera and new HVAC control switches, will be major feature upgrades. The upcoming 2023 Kia Seltos facelift will include a new grille and headlights with LED DRLs, new wheels, and a panoramic sunroof. Fusion Black, Pluton Blue, and Valais Green will be the three new paint schemes.

Citroen C3 Aircross

According to the media, the Citroen C3 Aircross would be available in two seating configurations: 5 and 7 seats.

Its 5-seater variant will compete with the Hyundai Creta. Citroen's upcoming SUV will be based on the C3 hatchback and will be part of the brand's C-Cubed concept. It will be powered by a 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine producing 110bhp and 190Nm.

The SUV will be built on the Stellantis CMP platform and will have amenities including a 10-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment system. The device may be compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
