German automotive giant Audi has recently revealed the prototype version of its highly anticipated electric SUV, the Audi Q6 e-tron. Positioned as a smaller sibling to the Q8 e-tron electric SUV, which is set to hit the Indian market on August 18.

The Q6 e-tron has been undergoing extensive testing in Europe, hinting at a possible launch towards the end of this year. Ahead of its official debut, Audi has shared several key details about this electrifying addition to their lineup.

Pioneering Platform: Premium Platform Electric (PPE)

The Audi Q6 e-tron will be the inaugural model based on the groundbreaking Premium Platform Electric (PPE) developed by Audi in collaboration with Porsche. The PPE platform is exclusively designed for pure electric vehicles and will also serve as the foundation for forthcoming models like the Audi A6 e-tron and the Porsche Macan electric SUV.

One of the platform's strengths lies in its adaptability, allowing carmakers to utilize it across various models with varying battery pack sizes and wheelbases.

Two Body Styles: SUV and Sportback

The Audi Q6 e-tron will be available in two distinct body styles - the standard SUV and the Sportback variant. Enthusiasts can expect an additional RS version in the pipeline, aimed at delivering even more exhilarating performance.

Equipped with a 100-kilowatt-hour battery pack and two electric motors, the top-spec variant of the Q6 e-tron is projected to generate over 500 horsepower. The electric SUV is likely to offer an impressive driving range of approximately 600 kilometres on a single charge.

Powerful Technology: E-SUV's Technical Advancements

While Audi has not yet officially disclosed all technical details, the Q6 e-tron will come with an 800-volt electrical system, robust electric motors, and an innovative battery and charging management system.

The vehicle is expected to feature a newly developed electronics architecture, representing a significant leap forward in electrification and digitalization for the Audi brand. The Q6 e-tron's fast-charging capability is estimated to charge from 10 percent to 80 per cent in just about 20 minutes.

Matrix LED headlights and a digital OLED display for the taillights will adorn the electric SUV.
