BMW X1 Tech Edition – It's different
BMW has updated its X1 range with additional technical features to introduce its X1 Tech Edition in India at prices starting from Rs 43 lakhs. The most significant update is the 10.25-inches central infotainment screen. However, the other variants of the BMW X1 have an 8.8-inches infotainment screen, small by luxury SUV standards.
Besides offering a touchscreen facility on the 10.25-inches screen, BMW retains the iDrive Controller. In addition, the BMW X1 Tech Edition gets a wireless charging function, a new Head-Up display, and 205W Hi-Fi audio system.
BMW has not changed the exteriors as it retains the trademark kidney grille and magnificent headlights. However, the updated version gets 18-inches alloy wheels. While the interiors get a fresh Oyster Black upholstery, the X1 Tech Edition comes with two external color options in Phytonic Blue and Alpine White.
BMW X1 Tech Edition – The Retentions
The retentions include the iconic kidney grille and the unmistakable front LED headlights. In addition, the front and rear aprons introduce a sense of sportiness with the characteristic smooth side profile linings.
Due to pricing constraints, BMW is not able to update the interiors to match the incredible looks of its modern-day fleets. However, the old design is not bad either. The BMW X1 Tech Edition is a bit disappointing in this aspect.
The other features that get carried forward are ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable front seats, reclining rear seats, Apple CarPlay, etc. The safety features include six airbags, Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Attentiveness Assistance, Cornering Brake Control (CBC), and electric parking brake.
BMW X1 Tech Edition – The Engine Specifications
The BMW X1 Tech Edition runs on a 2.0L 4-cylinder Turbocharged petrol engine capable of producing a maximum power of 192hp and a high torque of 280Nm. This engine pairs with a 7-speed Steptronic Sport auto transmission system with a front-wheel drive. The steering wheel gets controlling options like launch control and gear paddle shifters. Unfortunately, this vehicle does not offer a diesel engine option.
BMW X1 Tech Edition – Pricing and Competition
BMW now has four vehicles in its X1 collection, with the BMW X1 Tech Edition priced the highest at Rs 43 lakhs (ex-showroom, India). Its noted rivals include the Volvo XC40, the Mini Countryman, and the Mercedes Benz GLA.
