BMW X3 M40i Launched in India at Rs 86.50 Lakh

BMW India introduced its all now BMW X3 M40i SUV at Rs 86.50 lakh, ex-showroom. The bookings for this BMW car have already started. Interested customers can buy the first-ever X3 M40i by paying a token of Rs 5 lakh through the company's official website. The car will be imported as CBU (a completely built unit). Therefore, it will be available in limited numbers.

X3 M40I Design & Features

BMW M40i was unleashed in India with some minor cosmetic enhancements to make it more sporty. This SUV is equipped with the M Sport package as standard, and M-specific kidney grilles, wing mirrors, M-sport brakes with red brake calipers, adaptive LED headlights, and 20-inch M light alloy wheels.

Further, BMW has provided a digital instrument cluster, wireless charging unit, panoramic sunroof, triple-zone climate control, and ambient lighting. The SUV also packs a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and an electronic stability control feature.

BMW X3 M40i Powertrain

Powered by a 3.0-liter, six-cylinder in-line petrol engine with M TwinPower turbo, X3 M40i produces 355 bhp power and 500 Nm of maximum torque. Notably, the engine power of the M40i is 14 hp less than M340i, while the maximum torque has been kept the same. Its 8-speed automatic gearbox provides power to all four wheels.

BMW claims this SUV can race from 0-100 kmph in just 4.9 seconds, 0.5 seconds less than the M340i because the top speed is 250 kmph.

X3 M40i Mechanical Upgrades

The M40i series comes with holistic performance upgrades, and X3 carries the same. Some minor changes in SUVs include the M Sport suspension system with electronically controlled dampers that can adjust according to road conditions for better comfort and drive performance.

This BMW car has an M Sport differential system that electronically controls all four wheels to avoid under or oversteering. X3 also gets a variable sport steering system for enhanced handling and an M brake for better braking.

BMW X3 M40i Top Rivals

While there is no direct competition, it's expected that BMW X3 M40i will compete with Porsche Macan S, available with a 2.9-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 engine capable of producing 360 bph and 520 Nm. Macan S sprint 0-100 kmph speed in 4.7 seconds and has a top speed of 259 kmph.

However, the ex-showroom price of the Porsche Macan S commences from Rs 1.43 crore while BMW X3 M40i has launched at Rs 86.50 lakh. Further, X3 M40i will also compete with Audi Q5, priced at Rs 61.51 lakh, and Volvo XC60, priced at Rs 67.50 lakh.
