Honda is about to launch its first electric SUV | Check it out

Honda has unveiled its first all-electric SUV for the US market, the 2024 Honda Prologue. The Prologue is a mid-size SUV that uses the Ultium electric platform co-developed with GM. It offers an estimated range of up to 300 miles, front- or all-wheel-drive powertrains, and a tech-rich cabin with Google built-in.

The Prologue was designed by a young and diverse team of Honda designers in Los Angeles, who used virtual reality tools to create a neo-rugged design concept with simple and clean styling. The Prologue features muscular 21-inch wheels, a low and aerodynamic roofline, and distinctive badges that indicate its electric nature.

The Prologue is powered by an 85 kWh battery pack that supports fast charging. The all-wheel-drive version produces 288 horsepower and 333 pound-feet of torque, while the front-wheel-drive version has not yet revealed its output. The Prologue also comes with Honda Smart Charge, a system that optimizes the charging time and cost based on the user’s preferences and grid conditions.

The interior of the Prologue is spacious and luxurious, with leather-trimmed seats, a Bose premium 12-speaker audio system, and an 11.3-inch centre display that supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Google built-in. The Prologue also offers advanced safety and driver-assist features, such as blind zone steering assist and parking assist.

The Prologue is expected to start between ₹ 37.42 lakhs and ₹ 41.58 lakhs and will go on sale in early 2024. It will be followed by another all-electric SUV from Honda’s luxury brand Acura, as well as more electric vehicles from Honda’s own e:Architecture platform. Honda aims to sell 30 BEVs globally by the end of the decade, as part of its vision to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
