Experience the future of sustainable driving with Hyundai's Ioniq 5 EV, now available in India. Enjoy a range of 631 km, quick 18-minute charging, and advanced safety features.
The highly anticipated Hyundai Ioniq 5 has finally made its way to Indian shores, with the first batch of deliveries beginning this month. This electric vehicle is the second offering from the Korean automaker and was launched earlier this year in January during the Auto Expo 2023. It has taken nearly three months for the carmaker to start delivering the Ioniq 5 to customers in India.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the technical sibling of the Kia EV6 electric crossover, and it comes with a price tag of Rs. 44.95 lakh (ex-showroom). The Ioniq 5, unlike the Kia EV6, is locally assembled in India, making it a more cost-effective option for buyers.
However, it is important to note that Hyundai has announced that it will only be selling 500 units of the Ioniq 5 in India this year. Therefore, interested customers should act fast if they want to get their hands on this cutting-edge electric vehicle.
In terms of dimensions, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is similar to the Kia EV6, standing 4,635 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,625 mm in height. The wheelbase measures 3,000 mm, which provides ample space for passengers and luggage.
When it comes to the design of the Hyundai Ioniq 5, it takes a markedly different approach from its Korean cousin. With a simplistic look, this electric vehicle features parametric pixel LED headlamps and a clamshell bonnet, giving it a distinctive and futuristic appearance. The auto-flush door handles, parametric pixel LED taillights, and active aero alloy wheels further add to the vehicle's stylish and modern look.
The interior of the Ioniq 5 is equally impressive, with a minimalist yet feature-packed cabin. The seats are made from eco-processed leather, which not only adds a touch of luxury but also aligns with the vehicle's eco-friendly ethos.
The dashboard is dominated by a large 12.3-inch dual-screen projecting instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment system that comes equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Hyundai has gone above and beyond in terms of offering creature comforts to passengers, with BlueLink-connected car technology, a premium Bose sound system, ventilated seats, and dual-zone climate control. The company has also added Vehicle to Load (V2L) technology, which enables the vehicle to function as a charger. This feature is particularly useful in emergency situations, as the Ioniq 5 can provide power to other devices such as laptops, mobile phones, and even other electric vehicles.
Under the hood, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 comes equipped with a 72.6 kWh battery pack, providing the vehicle with an impressive range of 631 km, which has been certified by ARAI. The electric vehicle is powered by a single PMS electric motor that can produce 214 bhp of power and 350 Nm of peak torque, making it a powerful and responsive option for drivers.
Hyundai has also made sure that the Ioniq 5 is easy to charge, claiming that the EV can be charged from 10-80 per cent in just 18 minutes using a 350 kW DC charger. This makes it an ideal choice for those who need to recharge their vehicle quickly on the go.
In terms of safety, the Ioniq 5 comes equipped with a range of features, including level 2 ADAS, which helps drivers stay safe on the road. Additionally, the vehicle features six airbags, ABS with EBD, an Engine Parking Brake, and all four disc brakes, providing peace of mind to passengers.
