James Bond's Aston Martin DB5 Recently Auctioned in 26.15 Crore

Dr. No., starring Sean Connery, has been on the big screen for sixty years, and Christie's Auction House and EON Productions are commemorating the milestone with an official two-part charity sale of "one-of-a-kind memorabilia."

The first leg of the auction, which took place in London on Wednesday, was a huge success, with a replica of the famed Aston Martin DB5 used for stunts in No Time to Die, the final edition of the James Bond franchise, selling for a record £2.92 million ($3.18 million).

According to Christie's, the Aston Martin DB5 seen here was one of eight stunt vehicles developed and manufactured particularly for the 2021 film, but it is the only one available for public sale. The automobile was shown in the initial pursuit scenario through Matera, Italy, with replica machine guns hidden under the headlights.

Adrian Hume-Sayer, head of the James Bond sale at Christie’s said, "Externally it looks exactly like the DB5 that we all associate with James Bond. Internally [it’s[+] a completely different beast to be capable of all the incredible stunts and the driving that they did in Matera”.

The Aston Martin was offered as a "non-runner" collector's item and is not legal for road use.

Christie's invitation-only auction featured 25 pieces in total. Another notable item that was auctioned off yesterday was the Q-Boat from the 1999 film The World Is Not Enough, which starred Pierce Brosnan. Bond piloted the boat out of a building and right into the Thames River in London in the film's pre-credit opening sequence.

The Q-Boat sold for £126,000 (about $136,400). The Prince's Trust, The Prince of Wales's Charitable Fund, The Special Air Service Regimental Association, and The Special Reconnaissance Regimental Association will receive all of the earnings from the charity auction.
