Kia's EV6 facelift, inspired by the flagship EV9, brings striking design changes. Minimal interior tweaks, diverse powertrains, and potential high-performance GT variant signal Kia's commitment to electric innovation.

In the relentless pursuit of innovation in the electric vehicle (EV) market, Kia Motors is gearing up for a mid-life facelift of its popular EV6 model. Test mules of the refreshed EV6 have been spotted testing abroad, showcasing a striking new design inspired by the brand's flagship EV9 electric SUV. While the exterior changes are expected to be significant, the interiors may either be carried over or may undergo some minimal modifications.
The Kia EV6 has made its mark as the South Korean automaker's first electric vehicle for the Indian market, swiftly becoming one of the 28 electric cars that are available in the country. Despite being a relatively recent addition to the Kia's lineup, the company is already working on enhancing its appeal with a facelift, a move that signals the commitment of Kia for staying at the forefront of the rapidly evolving electric vehicle segment.
Design Inspirations from the EV9
Much like the recently unveiled Carnival facelift, the Kia EV6 facelift also draws its inspiration from the design elements of the flagship EV9 electric SUV. The test mules of the EV6 facelift have been extensively camouflaged, particularly in the front, side, and rear areas, hinting at the substantial changes in these regions. The most noticeable transformation is the redesigned fascia, featuring the vertically arranged headlights, a departure from the horizontal layout of the current model.
Observations suggest a potential overhaul in the front bumper, side profile with new alloy wheel designs, and a rear section with revised LED signatures in the tail lights. The overall aesthetic of the tail lights appears to be consistent with the current model, maintaining a blend of familiarity and freshness. Both front and rear bumpers are expected to receive revisions, injecting more aggression and flair into the EV6's design language.

Interior Continuity and Powertrain Variants
Despite the expected exterior overhaul, the interior of the Kia EV6 facelift is anticipated to remain largely unchanged from the current model. The existing dual 12.3-inch horizontal displays, dedicated to infotainment and instrumentation, are likely to be retained. Notable features such as the two-spoke steering wheel and physical switches and dials for crucial functions are also expected to persist.
In terms of powertrains, Kia presently offers two versions of the EV6 in India – a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variant and an all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant. Both configurations share the same 77.4 kWh battery pack. The RWD version boasts 226 bhp and 350 Nm, while the AWD variant packs a punch with 321 bhp and 605 Nm. Both versions are part of the GT Line trim.
High Hopes for the EV6 GT
The potential buyers are eagerly awaiting the possibility of the maxed-out EV6 GT making its way to India with the facelifted model. The GT version, if launched, would offer an impressive 575 bhp and 740 Nm, with a mind-boggling 0-100 km/h time of around 3.6 seconds. While an official confirmation is still pending, industry watchers anticipate a potential India launch in 2025.

Verdict: The Kia EV6 facelift aims to not only elevate the electric driving experience but also solidify Kia's position in the competitive EV market. As the automaker continues to push the boundaries of design and performance, the EV6 facelift is poised to captivate electric vehicle buyers worldwide. Stay tuned for updates as Kia prepares to unveil the refreshed EV6 in the coming months.
