Kia Motors today revealed its new master plan, taking a step forward in its manufacturing of vehicles by creating more sustainable mobility solutions for their consumers. In all, Kia has announced to float seven new electric generated vehicles worldwide by the year 2027, hence escalating to their new sustainable inventiveness. This South Korean car company is about to bring a change in its identity by making a few small changes, starting from its name - ‘Kia Motors’ to just ‘Kia’ and by disclosing its brand-new logo. As a matter of fact, Kia’s first next-gen electric vehicle will soon be launched in the first half of 2021 with the brand-new slogan ‘Movement that inspires’.
The carmaker is diversifying its business and wants to create more sustainable options by recycling waste materials and expanding the usage of clean energy. Regarding the introduction of the seven new BEV’S by 2027, it is strengthening its worldwide product line-up. The main focus of the company will be on BEV’S (Battery Electric Vehicles), which will be built on Hyundai Motors new ELECTRIC-GLOBAL MODULAR PLATFORM (E-GMP). It will consist of a range of vehicles from SUVs to MPVs, providing long-distance driving and fast charging over several segments.
As stated earlier, Kia’s new-gen battery electric vehicle, which is based on the new E-GMP technology, is to be launched in the early months of 2021. The crossover inspired design, of the new BEV will offer 500 kilometres of driving range with high-speed battery charging within 20 minutes. The new car will also be launched internationally with its brand-new logo of Kia. By 2025, Kia is also aiming for a 6.6 per cent share in the global BEV market, and by 2026, it is targeting an annual sale of 500,000 BEVs. The company’s new design model will be acquired and showcased in the new vehicle and soon more information about its design and services will be declared in the coming days.
President and CEO of Kia Corporation, while expressing about this major transformation, said that at Kia believes that transportation and mobility represent a human right. The vision of the brand is to create sustainable mobility solutions for consumers, as well as, communities, globally. He said that the brand will put this vision into action with the launch of their new brand purpose and strategy for the future.
Kia will partner with Canoo and Arrival to develop a range of Purpose-Built Vehicles (PBVs). The new range will be established on flexible ‘skateboard’ platforms, keeping in mind of the movability needs of the varied range of the corporate and fleet consumers. The new PBVs may be customized to the user’s utility requirements by having different bodies seated on the integrated modular skateboard. Kia is awaiting, that by 2030 its demand for the PBVs will rise five times because of the fast and encouraging growth in e-commerce and car-sharing services.
To further broaden its mobility services in global strategic regions, Kia is investing in Southeast Asia’s largest ride-hailing service, food delivery and payment solutions company named, Grab; and has also invested in Ola, Bengaluru based ride-hailing and ride-sharing services. It will also establish WiBLE, a car share joint venture with Respol in Madrid.
